The only surprise for me is Leighton. He had 2 more years, was doing well, had the starting job locked up and getting his school paid for (or at least some of it paid for). But then, maybe he was taking a double major and studies were pretty intense.

Tommy Sullivan said that Leighton will graduate at the end of Fall Semester, so paying for school isn’t such a giant issue. I think he had too much time on his hands when he was only punting like once a game.

You have to love the game. Sounds like he loves MSU, teammates, coaches, but not the game anymore. Probably the right decision for him.
