I don't care about the details but I think they should have at least acknowledged he was joining the team during the last signing period (even if he didn't have to officially sign since he was already a student). I assume the local sports reporters will ask about him when he plays in the spring game and Vigen can confirm at that point. The only reason to issue a statement is to get out ahead of the coming performative outrage.

Zac spoke to the team and went through the story. I guess it was well received and went well. We have great team leadership, coaching leadership and great culture. I completely trust the team and the process. I, for one, am glad he is on board!!!

Yeah it’s a fine line and a line I think is ******. The journalist core is inherently woke and will undoubtedly ask the question, but if Vigen and players handle it up front they will get tired of asking the question. I’m fine with them asking the question, because it’s the world we live in. It seems right now words hold more weight than actions, which is a shame. I remember when Yates got a DUI in the summer and Choate suspended him for a few games and made it clear he made a mistake and has learned from it, and that was then end of it. A DUI or actually breaking the law is a more serious offense, but the media doesn’t care about that now anymore. They answer to the woke publicists and editors, so they will treat Zach’s joke like an actual crime, which it is not. It was a mistake by him and he has more than paid his dues. I’m glad he is getting a chance and I hope he kills it at MSU and makes Bobby look like the dork he is.

I think the large majority of both Cat and Griz fans agree that he made a bad mistake but has apologized, paid significant consequences, and now deserves a second chance. If any Griz fans are upset it will likely be because Crews didn't get that second chance with them.
