Looks about 20% as good as SDSU and NDSU’s.
Much of the extra space in the DSU schools' more expensive facilities has already been built at MSU as part of the BAC. Our facilities will be split across two buildings while theirs is all contained under one roof.

So it’s not a full size field?
First thing that stood out to me too.
Looks great overall, very exciting project that is much needed, but why short the field?

I get cost is the obvious answer there, but how much more would a full size field be?

Just don’t want it to be something they regret not doing in a few years. But I’m nowhere near in the know on this, so I’ll just shut up and let the people that do this for a living handle it.

Pending amount of funding it may just be 80 yards + endzones. Though was told that the type of building can easily be added on to in the future to expand to accomadate full length.
Many (most?) IPFs have 80 yd fields.

Where/how do we donate?
Main Alumni Foundation page with explanations for ongoing capital fund and projects

https://www.msuaf.org/s/1584/index.asp ... &pgid=1879

The donation page where you choose “Athletics”

https://www.msuaf.org/s/1584/form-cart ... &pgid=1356

Scroll through the list to find the project you want to support.

I did not find IPF listed but you could choose “OTHER” and it prompts you to enter the name of the project you would like to support.

From there site:
“ If you cannot find the fund you are looking for, click on any of the support areas above, then click on "other," and you'll be able to write in a description of what you would like to support. Otherwise, please contact 406-994-2053 or email gifts@msuaf.org.”

SDSU's is only 80 yards FWIW

And Weber's appears to only be 50 yards long

Doesn’t need to be a full field to do drills and train.

Nice ipf with an indoor track is going to be built. So not likely it will be small.

I don't believe there is a track. All the bells and whistles that the DSUs have at their IPFs are provided already with the BAC and Brick.

So $15M (in today's money) to build a workable IPF. How much would it cost to set a new, much higher, benchmark for the FCS? We need to get the project done but we should also be looking to far outpace what our competition can think of doing in the near future. It's also not unlikely that we move up to the FBS in the next decade and would be nice not to be too far behind the MWC teams when we get there. Essentially, our benchmark shouldn't be NDSU/SDSU but the MWC teams.

The more you guys donate, the bigger and better they can build it. Contact the alumni association to donate to the project.

Are you sure it will have enough conference room and meeting space?

I like the space for a water polo addition. And doubles as an outdoor rink for hockey.

Where are the tailgating spots over there going or will the building be south of the existing spots.

From Leon's mouth: There will NOT be an indoor track. If we happen to raise more money than expected (fast) then they will consider it. Timing trumps the track. If it takes just a few more months to raise enough for the track then no go. They want it built by next winter which I think is aggressive. I think total cost is between $15M and $18M. The design contractor has already been selected. They want to move fast if they get the money. Apparently half the money already exists (somewhere).

I think they never should have shown us the plan for the IPF with the seats and track to begin with. Yes that was a much nicer facility but obviously it came with a much higher price they couldn’t really come up with. These last few years with deep playoff runs has shown what a disadvantage not having an IPF brings. We made a runner up run last year and are poised to compete for National Championships this year and following. Got to get something built now and this is a great option.

While obviously costs were going to rise I don’t think anyone could have expected construction costs to explode the way they have since they introduced that plan. It made sense back then, it just doesn’t really now unless some whale magically appears and says they want to fund it.

It’s being built on land used by maintenance. If you happen to get on google maps, you can see what is there currently.

If the location shown on the diagram on the previous page is accurate, what's currently there is in fact a parking lot which is used for tailgating during football season. Looks like the front of the building will be quite close to Kagy.
