I don't want Bobby gone. I've enjoyed being around him. I really like 1-3.
With our young team it could get to 1-5 if Hauck keeps his job that long.
I think this would be the perfect time for him to get out. He's still 6-5 vs MSU, so he can leave with a winning record in what I think is the most important game to him. He can't honestly think beating MSU next year is better than 50-50. The entire run game returns with Ifanse and White. Obviously, no one (except NDSU) is playing in the national title game every year, so I really do think it's important to him to go out above .500. He loses some of his best players and UM doesn't seem to have a lot of depth. His son will be done, and I think that means something to him. I don't think it was a coincidence that he came back when he did, and you can't blame him. He loses O'Connell, Welnel, Johnson, Ford and Hauck. The defense really takes a hit, and the offense doesn't appear poised to make any noise next year.
Weber State, Sac State, MSU, UC Davis and Idaho all look like they'll be better than UM in 2023. He's been there since 2018 and they've made very little progress (6-5 in 2018; 7-4 (8-5) in 2019), which tells me his recruiting acumen has dwindled along with the more distinct fact that the conference is much better than it was and probably ever has been. It doesn't look like it's going to change anytime soon with coaches like Hill, Taylor, Vigen, Eck, Hawkins, Baldwin, and Best still around.
I'm having a hard time coming up with any rationale for why he would stay.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).
