The post on the main board about license plates reminded me of a friend and his wife from Oregon who went to school at Florida with me. They were Gator fans but they really disliked what they perceived to be the typical Florida resident's arrogance. As an example, my friend's wife worked part-time in a floral shop, and one day a customer commented on her "accent" and asked where she was from. My friend's wife responded "the west coast," to which the customer responded "oh, you're from Tampa?" Anyway, at that time Florida had the outline of the state on their license plates, and based on that my friends took to calling it the limp di%k state.
