I don’t understand how any parent in the state of Montana would surrender their son, for four to five years, to that man’s influence. Players always talk about how much they learn from their coaches about life in general — we’ll I’d rather have my kid influenced by a Jeff Choate or a Brent Vigen, thank you. Shoot, if I was the player I’d listen to that and say next school, please.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 9:29 pmThey say you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.
To paraphrase that... You can lead Bobby Hauck by giving him a question that is perfectly teed up for him to give a positive encouraging answer about his team's preparation for their upcoming game, but you can't make him give that positive answer.
Furthermore, you can't stop him from giving the most snarling, surliest, snotnosed answer imaginable.

Re: Cry-baby alert
For as much as the gris folks knock Vigen, he seems to demolish BH in head-to-head recruiting battles. Last year, they went after 7 of the same recruits if I remember correctly. Vigen ended up with 5, BH 2 (1 of those was Crews and we know how that ended). So far this year, they’ve offered 4 of the same kids. Current tally? Vigen 3, BH 1. And the 1 BH did get, it seems the gris offered more $ seeing as how the commit commented (in a newspaper article) that dUMb offered him a full ride and others did not, which made the decision easier.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Tue Oct 18, 2022 1:34 amI don’t understand how any parent in the state of Montana would surrender their son, for four to five years, to that man’s influence. Seems like he doesn’t want to be there. Maybe some validity to grizgirl’s earlier posts?

If you follow andrew schmidt on twiiter, someone asked him what this week would be like for their team. He said noone better even let one smile out or they will be miserable.

Earlier in the season in another thread, grizgirl said that Bobby does not want to be there and this would be he last season.

Give me an ol' boring coach speak guy any day of the week versus a petulant child like Bobby, good grief.

I don’t think there’s a coach alive who enjoys press conferences (except Choate, Spurrier, and Leach), but next to none of them act like Bobby. He can’t even do the bare minimum!

I just watched an old press conference from 2019 of Choate, and I "Almost" forgot just how much Choate loved to talk football. In comparison, Bobby absolutely loathes talking football to the press.

I think this year will be his last. I’ve gone from sick of him to feeling sorry for him. He needs to retire. I can’t see how he’s enjoying it. It’s not healthy.

Bobby Hauck is a case study on toxic leadership.
Brent Vigen is the complete opposite of Bobby. We are very fortunate to have had a string of coaches now that have not only put a good product on the field and in the classroom, but have also built young men into servant leaders and superb athletes.

The griz are 5-0 against teams that to date have losing records with a combined record of 9-28.
The griz are 0-2 against teams with a winning record to date with a combined record of 12-2.
The griz will face 2 teams that will have losing records and 2 teams that will have winning records to finish off the regular season. If the griz do not have a win against a team at season’s end of .500 or better, do they get in the playoffs with a 7-4 record?

At 7-4 with no quality wins, they would at the very least be on the bubble. You'd probably be able to find 24 more deserving teams than the #6 team in the Big Sky. But the committee seems to love/expect the griz in the playoffs, so it would certainly be an interesting case. The Butcher wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 8:31 amThe griz are 5-0 against teams that to date have losing records with a combined record of 9-28.

However Weber really didn't impress me much until the 4th quarter last weekend, perhaps I had too high of expectations... so it wouldn't shock me to see the griz beat them. Without those 2 return TDs our game wouldn't have been close. And I don't see them getting 14 points off returns in the same game again this year. But we'll see what happens.

I think if the griz go 7-4 with no quality wins they'll still get in on name/conference recognition. However, I think the committee should punish them by making them travel in the first round. Ideally to the east coast.91catAlum wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 8:48 amAt 7-4 with no quality wins, they would at the very least be on the bubble. That's not how it works though, first round hosts are based on the bidding process and nobody is "punished" by the committee for being one of the last at-large teams to make the field. There's a near 100% chance that both MSU and UM will host their first round games if unseeded. It wouldn't be a surprise to see an unseeded Big Sky team get sent to NDSU or SDSU for the Round of 16 though, which would not be an ideal draw. Any 7-4 or better Big Sky team should feel quite comfortable in getting in this year.coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 9:21 amI think if the griz go 7-4 with no quality wins they'll still get in on name/conference recognition. I know that's not how it works. I just wish it could happen because if they make it in at 7-4 they don't deserve a home game. That's probably the #1 argument to have a fully seeded/ranked field.MSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 9:35 amThat's not how it works though, first round hosts are based on the bidding process and nobody is "punished" by the committee for being one of the last at-large teams to make the field. An unseeded MSU team is extremely unlikely. If (when) we win our next two games we will have locked up a seed regardless of the result of Cat/griz. Going into that game as the #3 seed at worst we won't come out of it lower than #8.
