Methinks the man protests too much...
neverthought,
I find it amusing that you claim to have no affinity for either school or team, and yet you come on OUR website and spew your crap? Are you sending similar garbage on egriz? Looks to me like you have INDEED taken a side in our little in-state (or should I call it PODUNK) rivalry and have chosen to "sleep with the enemy"...
I have to admit, you sound like a perfect Missoula-pinko-commie-englishwordforacigarette...
You find it perfectly legitimate to move here, make money here, and retire here and yet you take umbrage (look it up, CSU grad) with anyone else who does? Typical liberal class-envy. Liberal view of the world: "It's not FAIR that those people have been financially successful elsewhere in the world and now are choosing where they wish to enjoy the fruits of their labor..." Why does a Montana native have anymore right to a piece of dirt in this state than any other person? "Montana" is simply a line on a map. You think that because you've lived inside that line it gives you more rights than someone who hasn't? That's just ignorant.
I love the fact that I live in a country that allows me the freedom to live anywhere I like; the only parameters being my own efforts & level of success. If some Californian has worked harder/smarter/better/luckier than me and can afford a property on Flathead Lake that I can't, BULLY FOR HIM/HER!! They deserve it more than I do. If I don't like the results of the game, I damned well should play it better rather than try to handicap the people who have!
neverhadaclue, it's a good thing you've already done enough to retire. With thinking like yours, I doubt you'd find the same success(?) in today's marketplace...

nevershouldathoughticouldoutsmacktheseguys,
I'll loan you some of my medication if you like; it's obvious that it's becoming very crowded in that CSU-educated head of yours!
Anyway, neverhadachance, feel free to let me know if your presciption runs out; I've got plenty!

To those of you who think, that is
............if you actually do thinking. I am not affiliated with any Montana College. I only signed onto this discussion board because it seemed more interesting.
The Montana Grizzly Board is dull - kind of reminds me of Colorado University or elitist!
At the very least, my compliments to your postings. You may be dead wrong in your assessment of my comments, but at least you are interesting!
For most of you, your verbosity is exceeded only by your stupidity. Whatever is eating you - must be suffering horribly. They say opposites attract. I hope you guys meet someone who is good-looking, intelligent, and cultured. Ordinarily people live and learn. You just live.

Nevermadeafriend, after reading most of your posts, I've come to the conclusion that you are a split personality, blowhard, elderly half-man with nothing but pell-mell smack posts. You came on here as a guest, signed up, and have managed to offend nearly everyone. You've tried to flaunt your knowledge, yet you were found lacking. You tried smacking the Cats football team, yet even us Griz fans winced at your puberty challenged comments.

First of all, what do you think in is driving this states economy? For my own professional insight, it is the Californian's with all of that out of state $$$.
The states largest industry, farm and ranching, is dying. This is mostly do to economics of scale. Fewer farmers, fewer ranchers, fewer farm & ranch hands are needed today. The small farm & ranch communities are dying on the vine because there is nobody to sell too or provide services too.
The next two largest industries are timber and mining. The wacko environmentalists have closed these two industries. We all know that there have been problems with these two industries in the past, but that does not mean we have to close them down. I hope we do not become another New Mexico. I have a logging customer who moved there to take on a federal contract to thin the forest. They told me they have to grind or chop all of the logs the cut into sawdust. The have to do this because there is not a single sawmill in the entire state of New Mexico who can take logs. What a waste!
Possible the next largest industry and an excellent source of tax dollars to the state in is Oil & Gas. I grew up in Eastern Montana, I worked the oil fields when I was kid and I can tell you there is very little environmental damaged caused by this industry. When a site is developed, it only takes about a 1/4 of an acre for the pumping equipment, the holding tanks, the water separation tanks and the road to the site. The wacko environmentalist in the state are claiming a new gas well on the western front will kill off all of the wildlife. Well, I think the Alaskan Oil Pipe had the same claims against it, and it turns out the animals like to hang out by the pipeline. It provides a source of warm and the maintenance road makes it easy for them to move around.
I am sure they will be a lot of individuals on this board disagree with me. I would first ask you; “are you against this it because it might be in your back yard?”
Show me an environmentalists and I will show you a hypocrite.
Well enough of this.
If you do not like the Cats or even the Frizz, what the he)) are you doing on this board?

The only thing I would disagree with...Tourism is 2nd in the state after farming/ranching. Still good points though.BobCatFan wrote:The next two largest industries are timber and mining....

Amen Bobcat Fan.
You got my vote.
We're sitting on some of the greatest natural resources in the world....gold, silver, oil, gas, timber, agriculture. And there are those, both in this state, and out of state, that would like to lock it up. Even tourism is affected by the "lock it up mentality" in the form of roadless rules - in other words, it's tough to be a tourist, when you can't get in to see it.
Is there any coincidence that we're 47th in the nation in income. 30 years ago, we had some of the best average wages in the nation - what has changed? A slow and steady closing off and shutting down of our natural resources industries. It didn't happen over night, and it won't be corrected over night. In fact, if we think that the natural resource industry and that industry only will pull us out of the cellar, we are kidding ourselves. But you have to build a solid base with what God gave us.
There are corporations that want to develop our natural resources, and it's easy to divine their motive...profit. But for those that want to stop development, their motives must be questioned too. At least we know where the resource corporations are coming from.
We can balance a safe and clean environment with a successful natural resource industry. We must be careful and thoughtful with our regulations, but it can be done. Remember, even a successful high tech industry needs natural resources to build their products.
Anyway, thanks for letting me stand on my soap box for a few minutes.

As usual my needs are simple. I'm having a real problem because I'm not understanding this STATE thing. It's probably just because of my podunk upbringing. I'm aware of Penn State...and Ohio State....and Arizona State..and Florida State and even Colorado STATE. Is this a derogatory thing??? Is it something I'm supposed to be ashamed of? Maybe I don't want to know. But you know how us hayseed Montana natives are. Always curious.

The worst thing you could do...........
is ally me with Environmentalists.............or those tree huggers who come here from Washington DC in order to stop everything beneficial to Montana's Economy.
Furthermore, never refer to me as a Liberal or leftist, because I am as far right as you can get. I laugh at the ultra-lefist liberal view promulgated on the mymontana.com discussion board. (what a misnomer - mymontana - they do not represent the majority views of most Montanans). They are the leading proponents of "We hate Bush," and they all are an embarrassment to this State.
in terms of the STATE thing, last year the coach of the UM Grizzlies, Bobby Houck made reference to MSU as STATE, I think, to antagonize the Cats just prior to their season ending Clash with the Grizzlies. Well, it worked, and the Cat faithful was incensed by being referred to as STATE.
Who cares? I graduated from a STATE School in Colorado. We never thought a thing about it if someone referred to us as the STATE school, but in Montana, nearly everything seems different. Please explain it to me!
I just hope the STATE & Grizzly match-up at the end of the season is a good one and that the winner goes onto the playoffs and wins, instead of merely showing up, as happened last year!
Have a nice day everyone!

My personality....no apologies
I have a Dr. Jekyl - Mr. Hyde personality online and I love it.
I used to drive people crazy in chat rooms.
I hate being bored to death reading drivel.
I did not come here to offend anyone. If I did that, I apologize to you, because it certainly was not my intention.
Again, have a nice day & great weekend

Raincat......................
I think you should ask why it made the front page news?
ILMIBO after I heard about it from the MSU reactionaries, sportscasters, MSU discussion boards and others in Bozeman. I could hardly believe the small-minded MSU supporters..
I guess when you are teeny-boppers, you react differently than adults!

never,
you are a moron. Being referred to as state wasn't the issue; we proudly display it in a lot of ways & on a large number of items.
The reason we got a little hot under the collar last year was Hauck's idiotic comment that the reason he calls us state is because there's only ONE football team in Montana...
And unfortunately for you Griz fans, you can't just blow it off as BH trying to "get under our skin". BH sincerely hates the Cats every bit as much as we hate him & the Griz. Nothing wrong with that, in my book, but contrast it with the way Kramer speaks of the UM football program & tell me which school has the "classier" head coach.
I've said this in previous posts: Most of us Cat fans respect what the Griz have accomplished in football & hope that someday we too can achieve that level of success. That doesn't, however, lessen our desire to beat the Griz brain's (oxymoron) out whenever possible! If Hauck wants to openly display his hatred of MSU and essentially make an ass of himself in the process, that's fine with me. It really made it far sweeter when we beat them last year, and hopefully will again this season...

To expand a little further on the "State" thing:
Baby Hack was being interviewed leading up to Cat-griz. He was talking about how much he hated the Cats, yada yada. He said something along the lines of "there is only one team in the state of Montana," and then added something along the lines of, "in fact, we should just call them 'State', because they don't deserve to have 'Montana' in their name - you have to earn that..." basically refering to the fact that we *gasp* recruit kids from other states, and California in particular. What an ass.
Did we "earn" the moniker of "Montana" by kicking your ass again last year, Bobby???

Are you sure you're not exaggerating a bit there Bozone? Any input Whitemeat? I sure don't remember that one and sounds a bit over the top, even for Baby Huck. If that punk actually said anything along the lines of us not being good enough to have the word Montana in front of State, because we haven't won as many games as them, I now have a new found hatred of him. I'm guessing he didn't say anything like that...

Yes he said it, can't remember the exact words but Bozone's are pretty close I believe and are right on for the gist of it.
