How has Seer Dienes looked. I thought it was a good idea to red shirt him last year but expected him to be in the 8 man rotation this year. I have not seen much press about him this summer.

I don't know who's gonna be starting against Texas Tech, but Bauman will be our starter by the end of the year.

I want to know this: every year we seem to say our DL is going to be very good; while parts or players have been outstanding for many years, I have not seen a completely dominant DL since Cordeiro and Montoya were coming off the edges. The Daly's and Minter and Schreibeis were amazing...but I want to see that complete package. Is this d-line that package? I will say for the first time in years - this d-line and supporting blitz packages could be the new gold standard. Anyone have thoughts? I've been waiting for years to think this! I don't want to be overly optimistic but maybe this is it!
Certainly there is reason for optimism when you look and see the D linemen we have on the roster, especially on the ends. However, I believe it should be cautious optimism because we lost; Tucker Yates, Zach Wright,Tyrone Fa'Anono & James Williams......3 of which were starters and the 4th saw the field quite a bit for a Freshman (not to mention losing our run stopping MLB Grant Collins). When you loose 3 of 4 starters plus an underclassmen contributor & your MLB, optimism should be tempered I think. Although, I wouldn't bet against us being near the top of the BSC in run defense when the season is over either. GO CATS!

I've been feeling this way as well but I'm thinking he'll start against TT as well. Fun battle to watch though

Serious question, when Bauman is named starter (which he will be) how soon does Rovig transfer out? Does he stick around for the season to try and win job back?

Serious question, when Bobby (Part Deaux) goes 0-2 against the Cats and misses the playoffs a second consecutive year, how long before Griz fans put "For Sale" signs in his yard?

I think, and hope he will, but that's a tough spot for a first game.

/Yes, I know he got some snaps last year. They don't count.

Serious question.

Have you figured out that interceptions are not the only kind of turnover yet?

That’s actually a good sign. I hope everyone will understand that Rovig wasn’t a failure at QB last year and if Bauman does beat him out it isn’t by default. He will have beaten out a good quarterback.

Troy Andersen simply has an air of greatness about him that is hard to deny. It’s not like Rovig didn’t beat him out last year due to being an utter flop. The players just had a ton of confidence in Andersen, which is very understandable.

You sure have a lot of questions for somebody so close to so many well-connected Bobcat fans.

Admittedly, I haven’t been to any of the practices this Fall, but during the Spring scrimmage Bauman wasn’t even close to Rovig in terms of really, well, anything... If Bauman has improved enough to be competing with Rovig and is making it tough for coaches to choose a starter, I’ll be thrilled and amazed! Honestly, with the distance between them in terms of how they looked earlier in the year, I just don’t see Bauman catching Rovig, but I would LOVE it if it’s true!! That would give us 2 quarterbacks with similar skill sets to build an offense on for the first time in a while, and we could really use some continuity to rely on......

I still believe the players choice will be Bauman. There is something about having a leader at QB that everyone respects. That is exactly what Troy had going for him last year. The players believed in him. I believe Rovig really struggles in that area.

Have you heard something about Bauman commanding more respect than Rovig?

The tough thing for Bobby is that he had a very easy schedule last year (which set expectations high) and a very difficult one this year. Not being a hater, but Griz fans should be happy if they can go 6-6. He's still rebuilding from the hole that Stitt left the team in.
