That looks very nice! It will be interesting how well it wears going forward, but that was a much needed improvement for sure. If they can get 10+ years on that new paint they may not need to replace the East side stands. Just touch it up along with the turf every 10-12 years or so.
I’m very happy that these are finally being painted and will look much, much nicer. And while I agree it may not be a dire need to replace the east side right this minute, especially with how much nicer this will look, I would be incredibly disappointed if this is all they did every 10 years or so.
I know that’s not the plan and I am confident that the east side will be fully renovated in what I believe is phase 3 of the overall athletic plan.
That renovation will add seats, add a small section of sky boxes per the pictures that were originally released, and I would presume add bathrooms and add concessions that will all be an improvement over what is currently there.
It will also match the elevation of the end zone and actually look like they go together instead of being two clearly very different parts of a stadium built 40+ years apart from each other.
There are a lot of reasons why that east side renovation is very important and needs to happen if the MSU wants to continue to strive towards having a premier FCS facility.

Perhaps the stands themselves don't need to be totally replaced, but everything underneath needs serious upgrades. The men's bathrooms have 1 hand dryer and 3 sinks, each sink with just 1 water knob that pours cold water and must be held open with one hand.
Let's stick with the plan to make it nicer.

Yeah that is a very good point. I guess the painting will buy some time until they can do the Phase 3, but you are right they really need to upgrade the bathrooms and concessions on that side as well. I'm just happy they finally got the stands painted! Man that was an eyesore. I'm surprised it wasn't violating some type of Bozeman city viewshed ordinance

Maybe we'll get more TV gigs now......
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Walked around there today. No one working on the painting. They better get with the program. A lot of work to be done. The part not done looks like parts of Baltimore and Detroit. Not good.

Had the City of Bozeman been in charge of this, there would have been comittee formed, then they would have hired a outside firm for $100,000 to study IF the stands needed to be painted. Then hire another firm from New York to decide on the type of White and Blue. Just glad to see we got this expedited in before rust was a color option.

My understanding is that they did what they did in about a day. There are almost 40 days until the first home game. I’m sure they’ll be just fine.
Just glad it’s getting done. It is truly a night and day difference.
I knew it needed it, but honestly thought people kind of exaggerated how bad it was at times. Seeing the redone part shows that yes, it really was that bad...

Baltimore? That’s not in the Rust Belt.
