WOW, looks like someone may be in deep doo-doo...
Just curious where Phencie (sp) may have coached previously... Nah, that can't have anything to do with it

That's odd, the story is gone now. Oh well, I see you found it in another source.

Carroll College parting ways with Staggs before he even started.

I guess they want to get well ahead of the mess. An instance of guilty until proven innocent but both parties cannot really wait.
Skaggs may have other options and the Saints need to fill that spot.

Re: Player at Idaho State files complaint against Phenicie
If true, Phenicie is done. I can see a coach slapping a players shoulder pads, but a hammer punch is uncalled for. Once the player told him to stop he should’ve immediately recognized that he made a mistake and apologized. If he then tried to make Miller transfer he should never be allowed near a football field again.
It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

What a mess. ISU doesn't look good in this no matter what they do about Phenicie. Looks like a sh*tshow with the allegations on two coaches AND the paperwork issue. Add to that the fact that they have an interim AD, and it makes it look like it's a job where a new AD really needs to come in and fix some things with the culture in Pocatello.

WTF is a hammer punch? Are they trying to say hammer fist? It seems like Vince Vaughn saying “on the line.”

It’s a punch thrown with the same style as you’d swing a hammer (vertical hammer punch) or swing a tennis racket backhanded (horizontal hammer punch).

Immediately fired Staggs: “When Idaho State University learned about the inappropriate text messages to players, we took immediate and swift action. Conduct of this nature is absolutely unacceptable,” interim athletic director Pauline Thiros said in the statement. “We aim to provide an environment based on the values of equity, inclusion, and respect for all people. We will not stand for actions that belittle or are disrespectful.”
Phenicie punches a player causing bruising: “Idaho State University takes all allegations of physical assault extremely seriously,” Idaho State University President Kevin Satterlee said in the statement. “The experience of our student-athletes is important to us. When our university receives a complaint, we will have the matter thoroughly investigated. Based on the investigation findings we will always take the right and appropriate action to ensure that we create an environment that is safe and supportive. ... We will continue to work through the investigative process with that outcome in mind.”
Moral of the story = you can't be racist, but you can be violent.

Re: Player at Idaho State files complaint against Phenicie
ISU possibly screwed him out of an extra year of eligibility (hardship waiver). At the end of the season, when he was told he was done, he struck back. ISU has said they'll try to get him an extra year, but seriously, what program would want him now? If he doesn't get an extra year, ISU has already told him they'll honor his scholarship through May of 2020.
Players who witnessed the "hammer punch" said it was when Coach Phenicie was trying to fire up the players. Everybody I know who has ever taken nasty hits in games via the shoulder pads never had bruising. Can't say it doesn't happen. My brother had a shoulder dislocated from a hard hit, but he never had a bruise.
Fifty players showed up at Holt yesterday to tell their side. Worth the time to watch the video and read the updates.

Hammer punches on the shoulder pads is nothing to be whiny about. What I hated was what we called "turtle f***s".
