Best Bobcat from your hometown
For men's/women's basketball and football who's the best for each sport and who's the best overall?

Great thread topic!
For Helena off the top of my head, I gotta think it's buck winner Brad Daly, with Jay and Bobby in that conversation too.
Danny Sprinkle would be the men's hoops player.

Me, of course. But then, I don't think anyone from Scobey has ever suited up for the 'Cats. Hopefully that changes some day.
There's the truth, and then there's what's reported in the papers.

Sarah Flock from Belgrade. We were 2 of 13 classmates, that were the first kindergarten class to graduate in hs from Belgrade in 1988. She excelled in every sport and was a four year starter in volleyball and basketball.

I would say Kathy Roos and Julie Brown for women's basketball. I agree with Sprinkle and Daly. Delmar Jones was a good one in football as was Justin Brown in hoops.91catAlum wrote:Great thread topic!

Bigfork: Jeff Newton for best Bobcat and probably him, Chuck Mason, or Josh Sandry for best overall.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Sorry to be poking my nose in...I'm not a Helena guy. Often time goes by and things get lost. It's why we sing Old Lang Syne on new years eve. I just need to give a shout out for Bob Rudio, Helena's massively talented athlete of the mid-50's. Find his obit and see why I'm here.91catAlum wrote:Great thread topic!

Re: Best Bobcat from your hometown
I'm originally from Sunburst, and as far as I know the only two guys from there that ever played for MSU were Bruce Hogan and Gary Kimmet. That was before my time though, so I don't really have any idea how good either of them were or which one may have been better. Do any of you old timers (I mean like even more of an old timer than me) remember them at all? Hogan coached football and taught at Sunburst when I was in high school, and I know that he was a teammate of Jan Stenerud's, so he would have played in the mid 60's. Kimmet came along a bit later than that. He would have played in the late 60's/early 70's I believe.

Gary was really good. Cliff liked screwing with him and he still runs the chains at home games, makes all the away games and goes to almost all the Columbia Falls activities. Hard to believe Sunburst was Class B when he played.John K wrote:I'm originally from Sunburst, and as far as I know the only two guys from there that ever played for MSU were Bruce Hogan and Gary Kimmet. Yes, I know the Kimmett family quite well, especially Gary and his younger brother Dale who was just a couple of years ahead of me in school. Thy are both big Bobcat booster. I usually see them at the home games, and they come to GF for the Triangle Classic every year too.Cat Grad wrote:Gary was really good. Nooooo...basketball has to be a toss up between Tom Storm and Jack Gillespie and nobody will ever accomplish what Paul Shafer did against the Grizzlies...58 FREAKEN carries in one game? Anyway...we all have opinions.lutecat wrote:Bobby and his mom for basketball. For football that fellow that had the unfortunate time in history that he played against Super Dave.
