Not sure where Dex got his stats but ESPN doesn't have the Griz that high.

According to ESPN

Griz - 6th - 51.6%
Bobcats - 72nd - 46.7%

Not saying the Griz being 6th isn't a great feat, but get your facts straight at least.

Griz record in those games: 1-1

Impressive.
A few of those teams are right at .500, like UC-Santa Clara, Stanford & Drake :) Also....you are looking to be impressed? How about only Indiana and Florida have a higher FG% than the Griz? Still not impressed? How about these rankings too:

#6 in the Country in FG% with 52.5% (only Indiana & Florida are higher)
#9 in the Country in Assists per game with 19.6
#16 in the Country in Scoring Offense with 82.4 points per game
#16 in the Country in Win/Loss percentage (90%)
#30 in the Country in Scoring Margin with +14.6
#32 in the Country in Free Throw Shooting% with 74%
#37 in the Country in 3pt Shooting% with 39.8%
#50 in the Country in Rebounding Margin with +6.3

Pretty impressive I'd say! If it was the Cats with this record, and those stats, I'd be impressed. Fortunately for us Griz Fans, its the Griz :)

One other thing...
http://www.kenpom.com/sked.php?team=Montana&t=p

90% chance to beat the cats... Ouch.... Just kidding Cat Fans, the Cats seem to be getting somewhat back on track now...hopefully they fall off the track during the Griz game :P
By the way, there is some stiff competition leading in those categories.

FT% - Saint Joes, Davidson, Siena, Niagra, Buffalo, Rutgers, all ahead of the Griz.
Assits per game - Davidson, Furman, Northeastern
PPG - Lamar, North Texas, Long Beach State, San Diego
3point% - St. Francis, Cleveland State, Montana State, Quinnipiac, Portland, Fordham

Don't make it sound like the Griz are anywhere near a top 25 team.

The official stats were taken straight off of the NCAA's sports page :) I'll trust the NCAA's official stats a lot more than ESPN's stats...considering ESPN at one point earlier this season on their site (In one of their articles) showed the Griz lost to Washington 88-17 last year in the NCAA tournament..and that Kamarr Davis was academically ineligible for THIS year....

Anyway...the NCAA Sports page hopefully will have a stat update sometime this week to reflect the last Griz game (which isn't included in those stats). Even if the Griz do fall to 6th (Ack the world is ending) in FG%, that still is pretty damn impressive.

Also, funny you should mention the Top 25 thing, since the Griz did get a vote in last weeks poll for the Top 25 in the AP poll, and are currently #14 in the Mid Major Poll & moving up fast (10 spots from last week). On the cat side, the Cats did at least lose to a Good Division 2 team in Alaska-Fairbanks... Alaska-Fairbanks is ranked in the top 25 in D2 :) So all isn't bad in Catland it seems... :bag:

Griz don't have a vote in this weeks poll, maybe the guy realized what a stupid mistake it was.

Also, you aren't taking last weeks game into account.

Visit www.montanagrizzlies.com and look at your FG%.

I'm pretty sure I mentioned that :)

Hm....so, being near the top in the country in several categories if you are a Griz is not impressive at all.....however....

When the Cats hold the 37th best rebounder in the country to one rebound, its time to celebrate!! Oh, here are some of the teams that have players that rank higher than the 37th best rebounder in the country. These powerhouses include the Lipscomb Bisons, the Central Conn Blue Devils, the Robert Morris Colonials, and the NC Greensboro Spartans.. I could list more if you want :) Lets see how you do against the person who is ranked #10 in Field Goals made (Just under JJ Reddick of Duke), and is ranked #24 in the country in Field Goal Percentage... Andrew Strait!

Now now..before you post that holding the 37th best rebounder in the country to one rebound is a great accomplishment...and I'm a idiot for saying its not... I think it was too. I only used that as a example since you seemed to be pretty impressed with the ranking for that player, who the cats handled well.. yet totally blow off the accomplishment of the Griz to be ranked up there with teams like Florida and Indiana in FG% as unimpressive...do you see the problem there?

I specifically said it is a good accomplishment. You were just spouting off facts trying to make it sound like the Griz are a top 25 team. I was simply trying to argue that theory. Griz are playing the best bball in the conference right now, hands down, but no one has played any conference games yet. Just like in football - Griz went undefeated in OCC play (minus Oregon) but dropped 2 of the 7 games in conference. Anything can happen!

How does pointing out statistics found on ncaasports.com imply that I think the Griz are a top 25 team? I was pointing out where the Griz were ranked for various statistics in response to El Gato's sarcastic 'Impressive comment'. Was "Griz are a top 25 team" somehow in my post if you scramble certain letters up, or decode it with a super secret decoder ring? :P

Someone doing the polls thought enough of the Griz accomplishments to give them a vote in the AP poll (The first time in a while..that I can remember..that a Big Sky team has received a vote). And they are a top 25 team...in the Mid Major poll...which again...Big Sky teams don't usually get into :)

Anyway, yep..anything can happen in conference. Remember a couple years ago EWU started out the season getting beat by damn near every team out of conference, lost their first game to the Griz, then promptly kicked the crap out of everyone in conference & won the conference title. Of course the opposite could happen to the Griz...but it wont \:D/

I just caught a glimpse of the MSU basketball media guide and noticed they already have a new slogan:

"MSU Basketball: We held the nations 37th leading rebounder to one rebound"

You mean the national one, or the local one? I designed the local one, haven't updated it forever though.

Whichever one you have linked from here. I liked the guitar metal intro.

Metal rules.
