I wasn't totally suprised to see any of these guys go, except for Daniel Ashley. He looked liked a very promising young LB.
Probably something like:

Are you, as a Griz fan, fair and impartial?
sigh
I'll try to help you out a little bit. We are fans of MSU, you are a fan of UM... we don't like you, your team, or anything relating to UM in general. We, as Cat fans have no obligation to be fair or impartial when it comes to anything Griz. This same mindset is abound wherever sports rivalries exist. You Griz fans are no different. I can't imagine why anyone would have such a problem accepting or understanding this concept, but here you are anyway.

I think you would be hard pressed to find a Cat fan that wanted Bobby fired. I think he is doing a great job and wish him many years with the dUMb program.Go Scats Go wrote:I wonder what you all would say if the griz had 6 guys leave.94VegasCat wrote:http://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/ar ... otball.txt

My question, how many of these players are leaving of their own accord and how many are leaving because they didn't have a choice, their scholarships were taken away? I really have a problem with awarding a player a full ride then a year or two later saying to them guess what your not good enough we make a mistake recruitng you we don't want you. If they were in trouble or not working hard that's a different story.
Some of you I am sure feel that's the way it should be, either be good enough or be gone. Is that the way college athletics should work. Only graduate the good players, the one's you make a mistake recruiting get rid of!
From what I heard Rundle had his scholarship taken away, the others I don't know for sure

Do you actually think the players left on their own valition?
For the idiotic Frizzly posters to try and start some sort of "players hate the coaches and are leaving" scenario is ridiculous.
The 6 players left because they weren't going to get any playing time, and Kramer needed the scholarships, so the were nudged in the right direction.

It is no different if you get a scholarship for school from the Uni. If you don't maintain the gpa. you lose the support. Keep making the grades and the money is there.FootballFan wrote:My question, how many of these players are leaving of their own accord and how many are leaving because they didn't have a choice, their scholarships were taken away? If you take a football scholarship based on HS recruiting, you had better step up and play for the scholarship in order to keep it. IMO

My thoughts exactly. Just because you are given a scholarship doesn't mean you are ENTITLED to if for the full 4-5 years just because it was given to you. You have to work hard and earn the scholarship every year just like any other academic scholarship. I'm not saying all these players didn't work hard, but you need to show improvement/good performance as you go along. In my opinion I bet Kramer sat down with them and told them that they might not get much playing time as they haven't progressed enough quality wise for them to get on the field. If I was a player in this situation I would probably transfer as well if I wasn't going to see some playing time. College football is very similiar to the NFL as well. Some players are very highly touted coming in but just don't end up fitting your system or working out. It is Kramers job to mold the team to his liking that will give us the best chance to win.catsrback76 wrote:It is no different if you get a scholarship for school from the Uni. Let's not forget that a # of kids are there BECAUSE they get to play football for MSU. If not for football, some of these kids may never have considered going to MSU (or any school, for that matter).
Once they realize that they won't be seeing any significant playing time (or they've simply lost their desire), they may choose to leave to A) get a chance to play at a smaller school, B) simply go to school at a place that's a better "fit" for them, or C) because they realize they've played their last football game and it's time to move on with their lives.
Cardiac brought up the NFL analogy and it is very appropriate here. Look at all the high draft picks over the years that ended up washing out of the league in just a season or two. The pro scouts & GM's are paid BIG $$$$ to identify only those players who can & will help their teams; yet dozens of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounders are cut loose every year. Heck, just look at the list of Heisman winners who ended up being dumped by the NFL.
If you think it's easy trying to figure out which High School & JC players really "have what it takes" to start/play in the Big Sky, you should give Kramer or Hauck a call; I know they'd put you to work.

The Griz will jetison there own players this winter. So just hold on a little Griz fans. Their names will eventually be released. The difference is that most of these MSU football players will be able to get on with new schools in time for their new schools spring practices. One of the existing QBs will not return.

I know several players first hand who have left EWU for similar reasons. Coach calls them in for their Spring/Season End Review and informs them their playing time will be limited or they lost their position on the depth chart. The coaches diplomatically tells the player their heart doesn't seem to be in it(questioning their commitment)which may or may not be the case. A lot of players don't like hearing that especially those that have worked their asses off! A lot of players may also be eligible for financial aid and when they hear you can get $4,000 more on a fin. aid package than on a full-ride scholly and don't have to put in the year round commitment it's not hard to see why some players leave instead of riding the pine while busting their butts. Financial aid includes living expenses an athletic scholly does not(gas, added room/board, toothpaste, clothing, ect.). Because a player leaves don't assume it's some problem with him...these coaches need scholarship funds sometimes at the expense of hard working/dedicated players who don't break into starting roles.

Players leaving a program is a fact of life. If you are a big enough fan of a program, you will see it every single year. Look at any program from the season and you will see a very high number of freshmen and sophmores. The number of juniors and seniors is much lower. I beleive people would call that attrition?
To answer all of you griz fans, your list will come out and you will all say something just like all of us CAT fans.
So PUT A SOCK IN IT!!
