Does anyone think Mick will catch a clue and start recruiting some Montana talent? (Aside from his own son) He was completely outplayed last night buy a bunch of Montana kids playing for Carroll. Cut Bank, ThreeForks, and Missoula talent, all quality kids that he should have been recruiting. Just as he missed the boat on David Foster.

I still believe part of the problem this year is trying to mix in a couple of new guys with a ton of returners. The returners have been mixed up with guys who were riding the pine trying to get playing time. I believe we will be good when we find the right mix.

On recruiting, lets be honest that there are only a handful of players that night in and night out can compete at the 1A level in basketball that come from Montana. Can some compete on given nights, absolutely. But get off the fact that we need to recruit mostly montana boys. If we could have 13-16 on the team with some partials and walk ons that want to try to make it, I think there would be more room for Montana kids.

So you are saying you would be happy with the caliber of team that Carroll has at MSU this year? Carroll would finished mid (at best) to bottom of the pack. It's nice to have MT kids, but if they can't do it, they can't do it.

Coaching takes players beyond their pure abilities, and that is the reason Carroll almost beat us last night - not raw talent.

A couple points:

1. It seems to me like MSU still has a hangover from the Big Sky tournament last season. They seem to be underachieving for the talent that they have back from last year's squad. You'd think they would be meshing even better this second year.

2. I think Carroll is a lot better than probably 90% of the people realized going into last nights game. They went to the final four last season and return virtually everyone off of that team, with the exception of former MSU Lady Cat Julie Brown's brother Andy. I really believe that the top two teams out of the Frontier would compete with the bottom half of the Big Sky year in, year out. The conerence gets better and more competitive every year. I also believe the gap isn't as big between Frontier-Big Sky basketball teams as Frontier-Big Sky football teams. I really wish Carroll would have played the Grizzlies this year on the gridiron.

what the F**k ever Kooper pull your head out of that thing at your waist!!! JK I agree, I think that Carroll is a terrific squad and that they honestly deserved to win and quite possibly if the cats played them 10 times it wouldn't be unrealistic that it was 6-4....but lets be thankful that we did beat a good team!!

david foster was not good. casey didn't get recruited to play. he went to cali for a year, came back, and walked on. one montana kid had a good game and that was hays. hit me back with another post after the season if he contiunues to play that well. what some people dont understand is that there are a lot of kids who played highschool basketball that could probably score some points against d-1 talent. i mean like a shot here or there. but the d-1 kids are the guys that consistently play well. williams had a couple good plays last night, but there's not a chance in hell that he would or could play for the cats. there's a reason that he's a senior now and you haven't heard anything of his college career. and the same goes for the other guys. so i guess mick will "catch a clue" coack k, or any future coach for either team does. because no coach ever has, because no players are ever good. we are beating a dead horse with this argument. d-1 ball is the real-deal. these kids can play. and i dont care if you averaged 30 points a game in highschool, it doesn't always me you are d-1 caliber.

:goodpost:

Carroll has outrecruited MSU and the U IMO the last couple of years. I have watched those guys a lot last year and i can say that if Sinan Guler plays for anybody in the big sky he is all big sky calliber.

Travis Williams amazed me that he is even starting IHO. he got his shot with N arizona but didnt get any PT

Give me some thoughts on the minutes each player is getting. It seems to me that there is not a cohesive unit with all of the subbing. Do they get pulled if they can't shoot the three on a given night?

Also, haven't heard why Pratt didn't play.
