I don't think I'd go quite that far. I'd say top 40 maybe.luckyirishguy25 wrote:NDSU is probably a top 10 team in all of college football imo.CPrice91 wrote:luckyirishguy25 wrote:When they leave for FBS...CPrice91 wrote:Good grief, when the hell are they going to not win this game?
I mean, at this point that seems to almost be a rhetorical question. But if I think back to what I thought in past years and how far I thought NDSU might go... 3 straight, I wouldn't have been shocked. 4 is very impressive. 5?! I remember when people were freaking out about App State getting 3. This is just getting ridiculous.

Re: NDSU and FCS championship thread
I remember being unimpressed with a NDSU recruit at QB in the 2011 Badlands Bowl. Now he'll have 5 rings and will be a 1st or 2nd round NFL draft pick.

Wentz throws a pick to the endzone. Hope for Jax.
Jax. QB throws a pick the play afterward. Hope taken away.
11 minutes left now. 27-10 NDSU.

Re: NDSU and FCS championship thread
NDSU is at a level of dominance at their NCAA level that only UCLA basketball and Mt. Union football can replicate.
What an impressive program they are, and I love the fact that MSU brought in a young and hungry coaching staff to try and elevate the program from the solid base that Rob Ash created in terms of culture, academics, and citizenship.

Re: NDSU and FCS championship thread
I'm so tired of NDSU winning year after year. Their formula isn't very complex, but their commitment to perfect execution through sound fundamentals proves that the game, no matter how much we try to complicate it, still comes down to blocking and tackling. If that's who we want to be (it is) we hired the right guy in Choate. We had the size on the OL to dominate teams with power the last two years. Thank God we're going to rid ourselves of the gimmicky offense that really never "beat" the opposition into submission. We REALLY need a drop down DT or two and some DB's with speed. And our defense will get better. Congrats to the Bizen, their dynasty won't soon be eclipsed. Here comes the Bobcats. Can't wait for Spring ball

I really enjoyed watching today's game with the tackling, blocking, pursuing. Nothing complicated, just do your job as perfect as you can. If the guy across from you hits you in the mouth you just hit him harder and twice as often...

So you're saying that the record-setting offense was to blame for the past two years, and that the defense needs to get FBS players to be better?LongTimeCatFan wrote:Thank God we're going to rid ourselves of the gimmicky offense that really never "beat" the opposition into submission. How did Jax State's 4 southern drop-down DLs fare today?

About a third of NDSU's team is from Minnesota... Hysell had the pipeline in the 90's and had great recruiting from the state. Kramer dumped the recruiting area. I have always thought it was a terrible idea to stop recruiting the state and I think I was right.

Re: NDSU and FCS championship thread
I was a little disappointed that NDSU didn't even get a brief mention during all the hype leading up to the FBS championship game. I know that most sports fans couldn't care less about FCS football, but I think a team winning 5 straight NC is a newsworthy accomplishment, especially considering that NDSU has regularly beaten FBS teams, and boasts a QB who is projected to be a 1st round pick, and possibly the 1st QB taken in the draft. I don't think it's ever going to change, but it's sort of aggravating that FCS gets so little media coverage.

Re: NDSU and FCS championship thread
This. It bothered the crap out of me when one of the announcers said something to the effect that NDSU might be able to beat Texas, and the other announcer backed up and said he wanted to hear that again on record... as if it was some wild crazy statement. Texas wasn't very good and I actually think NDSU would dominate them on the field right now.BisonBacker wrote:John K wrote:I don't think I'd go quite that far. Re: NDSU and FCS championship thread
Again, I don't know if I'd go so far as to say that NDSU would dominate Texas, but I definitely think NDSU could beat them. It would be really interesting to see how they'd fare, if they played a full Big 10 schedule. I think they could finish in the middle of the pack.catatac wrote:This.
