FCS Playoffs

Post by exppi » Sun Nov 22, 2015 10:34 am

If I am reading the bracket right, PSU gets a bye, SUU is taking on Sam Houston St first round.

UM gets SDSU first round and a NDSU rematch if they win. What do they say about beating a team twice in a season...

That's correct. PSU got the 6 seed. UND did not get in.

South Dakota State hans't lost an out of conference game since playing SEC Missouri to start the season last year. They beat the Big Sky Champs 55-10 earlier this year. The Massey composite rating puts them as the #5 team in the playoffs & the Griz at about #20.

Griz have losses at home to Poly & Weber St.

I think that's one of the toughest draws UM could have had.

SDSU would have been seeded if not for a tough loss this week. It's a tough draw but the griz are home. Should be a good game.

How in the world did Western Illinois get in?

3 of their 5 losses are to teams in the top 5. One was to Illinois. All the computers think they are right about the same as UM. Not really a stretch for the committee to let 5 MVFC teams in.

If there's one thing this year's Griz team has shown us, it's that anything is possible - both good and bad.

No outcome to this game would surprise me. A blowout win, a blowout loss, and anything in between all seem within the realm of possibility with this team.

Yep, I agree. SDSU looked like world beaters early in the season with their FBS win and complete dismantling of SUU. But they've stubbed their toe a few times. Not unlike the griz, really. Pretty interesting matchup, IMO.
