O% nadda, nilch, none. (See where I am going with this). Montana State University simply can not compete at the NCAA Division I level for baseball. Not no way, not no how. I don't know how you would convince adequate prospects to get slaughtered at Bozeman, and what division would you play in? (As the big sky has no baseball teams). Baseball is my favorite sport, and I have looked into this a time or two. Unfortunately all sources point to no. I am kind of impressed that someone else is actually interested in the idea.

Dyche Field is gone!!!
Long live Dyche Field!!!
Talk about an ironic story, my wife and I saw two dykes making out in the first base dugout of Dyche (pronounced the same) field one night. Two big ole girls with Oprah Winfrey thighs making out in the dugout....those Grizzley cheerleaders had to go a long way to find a place to make out. The story is true, the cheerleader thing was just a pre-emptive manuver against any fizzley fans.
For you youngsters, Dyche field was located just across Kagy from Reno H. Sales Stadium, where they set up the kiddy free-for-all stuff before football games.

If MSU Billings can field a DII team why couldnt MSU get something going? There are a lot of talented baseball players in Montana that never get recruited due to no HS baseball. I dont think it will ever happen but I think it would be great for young baseball players in MT.Topher wrote:O% nadda, nilch, none. (See where I am going with this). If MSU was to field baseball, they could then add women's softball to take care of the Title IX requirements. I'm a big baseball fan personally and it would be a lot of fun to have an MSU baseball team. They dropped the program in the 70s, I think. And Dyche field was removed several years ago. The Legion baseball field is an excellent field for baseball. The bigger problem is that college baseball starts in February and ends by early May. For Bozeman, this is not the season of the best weather. We could do like other schools and play the first month at tournaments, but it would be very costly. Baseball and softball are fun sports, but cost and climate just don't work out well here. I think Peter Fields said something along those lines some time ago.
GO CATS!
It's always a good day to be a Bobcat fan!

My name is Steve, if you'd like to know.

Excellent points. I agree with all of your assessments. A retractable roof over the field would be nice, but we don't have the funds.bozbobcat wrote:If MSU was to field baseball, they could then add women's softball to take care of the Title IX requirements.
