Griz run defense exposed

Post by CARDIAC_CATS » Mon Nov 28, 2005 10:00 am

I don't think it is any mystery anymore on how to beat the Griz now (Or at least on how to attack them). Teams that have gone between the tackles and punched them in the mouth have done pretty darn good against them (James Madison/Sac State/Cal Poly/MSU). I think they are pretty good with their speed on the outside, but when having it run down their throats between the tackles/offense lineman blowing through the hole their fast LB's are suspect. Once you can establish the inside run you can go play action off of the running game and you can hit their suspect secondary as well.

The Cal Poly game pretty much mirrored the Bobcat game (and oh my, the field conditions were much better on the sprint turf? what gives? maybe it wasn't the field? :) ).

No Cardiac, that is merciless. Let them have that bone. IT was the field that beat them... both times.

I honestly thought Cal Poly would to down the tubes when Garnett went down, but that Freshman QB does not miss a beat. It is scary to think that their 3 studs are all freshman. Noble & Barden should make D-Coordinators have many sleepless nights for the next 3 years. Can you imagine if we were adding these guys to the BSC instead of UNC?

I think they said they have 5 or 6 RS freshmen starting on offense. They have built an excellent program. Cal Poly and UC Davis makes for a nice rivalry of very good teams.

I can't say I'm too upset we're taking a break from playing Poly. We've been on the business end of plenty of Mustang beatings.

Should be a great game against Davis next year.

I was glancing at the UC-Davis roster & stats from this season and they are losing 1 significant guy on O and 1 significant guy on D and THAT'S IT!

Are they playoff-eligible next season?

Grizzlies: 2-5 when it matters most
