Welcome to the off-season, griz fans.
Who wants to bet that some of the idiots will still be bragging, even after a 3rd place finish in the Sky, a lopsided loss to the Cats, an 8-5 record in their last 13 games, and a 1st round playoff loss AT HOME?
Grizzlies: 2-5 when it matters most

yeah i'm sure they would trade a national title game apperance, playoffs each year, and 23,000 sold out plus fans EVERY YEAR than the mediocrity that is montana state footballbobcatgrad2005 wrote:Hmm, 5-6 home sellouts this fall... sounds like the cats are hurting for fans... Sucks for those Montana higschool kids that made the WRONG decision 5 years ago to play for the 'Griz. 3-2 against the Cats' must hurt...

A national title game "apperance" is like being the guy who did'nt win the presidency. Go ahead, name the runner up to Nixon, George Bush Sr. or Ronald Regan. An "apperance" means we were there, just couldn't quite get 'er done. And believe me, I'm sure C. Berq. knew just who was being booed. Hope the fall off the bandwagon isn't too rough.

a national title game appearance is just as important, especially due to the road they took. three consecutive weeks on national television, two of which were home in a packed washington-grizzly stadium as bozeman was dead silent once again. a national title game appearance and playoff run is lightyears ahead of anything the bobcat seniors have accomplished (besides beating the griz).bobcatgrad2005 wrote:A national title game "apperance" is like being the guy who did'nt win the presidency. whether the players know who the fans were booing or not, the point is the fans were not booing the players. it's too bad if the kids think they were being booed because they put in a hell of an effort and another great season, but it doesn't consitute bad fans if the booing was directed towards the coaching booths.
how many years now have you said the bandawagon is departing? how is that prediction workin for ya?

I hope the griz players were smart enough to figure out that they were not being booed, their coaches were. For their sake. I, however doubt they realized what was going on. I'm sure booooos ring pretty hard in your helment when you are a 19 year old kid.
As for the bandwagon, I myself have not said it was loading up until... maybe two weeks ago. Paranoid Griz fans, who have 61 postings on their rivals site, may have...

Look back at the first post in this thread, tacoma.
You qualify.
Get off your imaginary high horse & realize your precious team just got it's arses handed to them in back-to-back weeks; you're out of the playoffs with a WaGriz loss.
Personally, if my choices were 1) beat the Griz but miss the playoffs OR 2) lose to the Griz AND lose in the first round of the playoffs at home, I'd take option 1.
Rather than brag about LAST year(s), just start dealing with the fact that you're done precisely 1 week later than we were. The great Griz machine broke down the last 2 weeks and your 3rd place finish in the Big Sky coupled with your performance today shows that this years Griz team simply wasn't up to your standards and really was no better than the Cats' season.
Throwing out your win over a high school team, you went 7-4. The Cats went 7-4; the Eagles went 7-4. You lost to the Cats & the Eagles; deal with it.

i really sincerely hope today that the kids realize the boos were not directed at them. no one deserves to have the feeling that their fans are against them, and in truth the griz fans are not.
griz nation supports their team all the way!

and yes -- beating your rival is a big deal -- but a higher standard for the griz program is to make the playoffs. it was just as big of a worry to get the top 4 seeding during the griz-cat game than to get a win over the cats in general. when you're a contender over year, you tend to set your sights a little higher.wow taken over by a good cal poly team today. they sure got it done. props to them.
i was just thinking -- if cat fans spent half the energy cheering on the cats than they do waiting for a griz loss, they might pick up more attendance!
by the way, high school team?
adams state ring any bells?
or better yet -- central washington and humboldt state?

the griz were not up to standards this year -- but when not being up to standards means losing in the first round of the playoffs -- the standards are pretty damn high! i would not trade being a griz fan for anything in the world, sorry.

Ok Gato, I agree with most of what you say on these boards, but I've gotta call b/s on this line of thought.El_Gato wrote:Throwing out your win over a high school team, you went 7-4. The Cats went 7-4; the Eagles went 7-4. You lost to the Cats & the Eagles; deal with it.
Yes, the Griz played a Div. II team this year. I'm not happy about that, but it happened. The Cats also played SFA, a very weak I-AA team that the Griz could have beaten just as surely as they beat Ft. Lewis (granted, we probably would not have won by as wide a margin, but they could have beaten the 5-6 Southland Conference team just the same).
Poking fun at us for playing a D-II team is fine; I've done the same to the Cats when they have played D-II teams in the past (which they have almost every year that I can remember, save for this one). However, it's a far cry from simply assuming that we would have gone 7-4 had we not played them. The fact is, if the Griz had scheduled anyone outside the top 20 or so I-AA teams, we more than likely still would have finished 8-3, and Cat fans would have no room to talk about our SOS. If you want to talk about beating us, that's fine; you kicked our asses and you should be happy about it, but don't give me this "you really went 7-4" crap, and don't give me this "third in the conference" crap (unless you agree that the Cats also finished third in the conference, and haven't won a conference title in 20 years...)

WOW!
Another griz fan taking the arse-kicking 2 straight weeks pretty hard!
GL, of all people, you surprise me.
First, say it with me now: SMACK TALK!!!!! Please note the forum.
Second; all I was trying to point out was that some of the "high & mighty" griz fans need to down a couple of reality pills and call me in the morning because the vaunted Grizzlies managed the EXACT SAME RECORD VS DIVISION I FOOTBALL TEAMS AS DID THE BOBCATS. So, any more smack from you guys reflects precisely the same way on the Griz when referring to the 2005 campaign; 7-4 is 7-4, no matter how badly you griz fans want to "spin" your alleged superiority out of it. So, let's compare, same record vs DI, and we thumped you pretty well. Spin away, griz fans, your season was really no better than ours (maybe even worse with a loss in the Brawl).
Third (no pun intended; well, on second thought...); the fact is that 2 & 3 seasons ago, while the Big Sky was a 3 way tie, the Cats got the autobid, which DOES mean, IMO, that we were the Big Sky champs. Last year, you guys were (and I believe I've stated that sentiment before) the Champs, and this year it was clearly Eastern. We're ALL so hungry for success, however, that we'll ALL claim a Big Sky title (don't act like you guys haven't been crowing about an 8th consecutive BSC Title) even when we don't win the autobid but again, IMO, the autobid recipient IS the Big Sky Champ. Since the Griz lost to BOTH teams they tied with, it isn't that big of a stretch to say you finished 3rd (and we finished 2nd). Besides, when so many of you griz fans spouted off all off-season about our finish last year, what the heck did you expect?
The overall point of this post & this thread, GL, is that I predicted that griz fans would attempt to somehow claim superiority over the Cats, even though they were soundly beaten the last 2 weeks and really had identical success in 2005. Looks like I was just as right as my 10-2 record picking Griz games this year...
Sorry so many of you are having such a bad 8 days...
