The cat-griz game on TV

Post by vike_king » Wed Nov 23, 2005 2:11 pm

Like a dumbass I didn't go to Bozeman to watch the game......or even tailgate during the game. So I watched it on TV.

It was like I was listening to a Griz broadcast so I turned the sound down and listened to Attebery and Davis on the radio.

I know, the broadcasters were Griz broadcasters, the production company was out of Missoula, and there was a token Bobcat guy in the booth but he didn't get to say much until it looked like the Cats were going to win.

I thought Altitude sports had the Big Sky Conference contract for TV. Their play-by-play guy would have been good. Their color guy is full of himself.

The game was broadcast by both the Missoula station and Altitude. I can't say for sure, but I believe the Altitude broadcast was a completely seperate production with their crew and not just a re-broadcast of the missoula one, correct?

Nope.

Altitude simply picked up the Missoula CBS feed.

Thanks, like I said I had just assumed they would do their own. That's too bad as the Altitude broadcasts that were done of the two MSU games earlier this year were pretty well done.

KPAX's production value was just plain awful. All Griz connections aside. No crowd mic, field reporter's mic didn't work, drunk camera men, etc... To top it off they goad our players into making these last-minute, idiotic introduction clips that make them look like fools.

You'd think that they'd eventually get the hang of doing all of those Griz games, and be able to put together a descent broadcast.

The best part of the broadcast was Grady Bennett, I thought he did a very good job.

Too bad CSTV and Altitude had to re-broad that embarrassing show of technical ineptitude.
