Quit saying "Go Griz"
I understand the "root for the Montana boys" thing, but if the terrible grizzlies win and get more and more home playoff games, it just feeds the fire. The griz started out the year very highly ranked....because of their reputation. Many (myself included) feel that the griz got the home playoff game on reputation, even though they are NOT a good football TEAM. By playing at home, one more time this year, they will be able to tell recruits "the playoffs are better than eating your moms turkey."
I cannot and will not ever root for the griz! I want all of the states best players to want to go to MSU and for the griz to have to go and find the kids that we "DON'T want".
I AM DARN PROUD TO BE A BOBCAT. IMHO cheering for the griz in ANY circumstance in not being a good BOBCAT.

Re: Quit saying "Go Griz"
speaking for myself, when i say go griz, it's not so much their team itself, or their tradition. but the kids from the state i love, many of whom i have either played with, against, or watched groing up, bust their asses for there team. and let's not forget, that many of these same kids, if they chose to come to msu, would be heros to many of us. so, when my beloved cats are all done playing, and there happens to still be football, i want to ruit for these kids. and because it takes a lot of time to say go kroy! go carpenter! go tuff! go lex! go klaboe! go lebsock! go ty! go torry! i prefer....good luck griz. and i promise that i'm a GOOD BOBCAT! just because we disagree on who we are allowed to cheer for come the end of the cats season, dont be arrogant and naive and think that you are a better fan than i!94VegasCat wrote:I understand the "root for the Montana boys" thing, but if the terrible grizzlies win and get more and more home playoff games, it just feeds the fire. arrogant and naive? If you read my post, it says "I understand the ROOT (that is the correct spelling) for the Montana boys" routine. If the griz keep up their string of post season runs, it does MSU more harm than good. that was my point, I was not questioning anybodies loyalties, just pointing some things out. I also said that is the way I see, not the way you need to see it.

you said cheering for the griz in any circumstance is not being a good bobcat! those were your words. and thanks for the correction in spelling. there will probably be several in this post as well because i don't reread what i posted. i think you knew what i meant though. i believe it is both arrogant and naive to think that you are a "better bobcat" because you choose to do things differently. also, i don't feel like i have the type of power to get these montana kids all the way to the nc just by wishing them luck. im a pretty sweet dude, but i guarentee that the cats would have a string of about 20 undefeated seasons rolling right now if they won simply because i wanted them to. dude, the griz are in. and although i am fairly sure that they wont be making a run this year, if they do or dont will have nothing to do with me. so while i don't feel like im RUITING for the griz, i have no problem with montana guys playing well after the cats are done94VegasCat wrote:arrogant and naive? There are definitely two different camps here and I think both are filled with loyal Bobcat fans.whitetrashgriz wrote:you said cheering for the griz in any circumstance is not being a good bobcat! those were your words. and thanks for the correction in spelling. there will probably be several in this post as well because i don't reread what i posted. i think you knew what i meant though. i believe it is both arrogant and naive to think that you are a "better bobcat" because you choose to do things differently. also, i don't feel like i have the type of power to get these montana kids all the way to the nc just by wishing them luck. im a pretty sweet dude, but i guarentee that the cats would have a string of about 20 undefeated seasons rolling right now if they won simply because i wanted them to. dude, the griz are in. and although i am fairly sure that they wont be making a run this year, if they do or dont will have nothing to do with me. so while i don't feel like im RUITING for the griz, i have no problem with montana guys playing well after the cats are done94VegasCat wrote:arrogant and naive? I, for one, cannot bring myself to root for Montana. My two favorite teams are the Bobcats and whoever lines up against the Griz.

While I understand that the farther the Griz go in the post season, means more money for the BSC...I, for one, cannot bring myself to root for Montana. My two favorite teams are the Bobcats and whoever lines up against the Griz.
I agee with Cat in SoDak...
I could never bring myself to cheer for the Griz. I can acknowledge that some of those boys played highschool ball here, and whatever, but when they signed on that dotted line, and it wasn't Montana State University, they lost my support. (I might still root for a specific player that I know, but never for the entire team)!
BOBCATS 16- Griz 06

I'll be in Missoula this weekend and my wife asked if I wanted to go to the game....Sorry I can't go...She'll go with her sister, my daughter and one of our boys, but My youngest son and I will find something else to do.
I feel that they did not earn a home game, only by bidding (bribing) and we all know money talks. It still irks me that last year they paid off Poly, played a weak team at home, made their record look stellar, got playoffs at home then choked in the NC. The mark of a good team is one that can win on the road and I feel when the Griz play an equal or better team, chances are they won't win. I'd like to see their road playoff record..

I totally agree, I can't stand the Griz. All year long I can't stand the Griz. Why would I want them to go far in the playoffs. I work with several Griz alum, and it was so much fun razzing them before and after the Cat/Griz game. Their only comeback is "at least we got the playoffs." I want the Griz to tank against Cal Poly so they change their mantra to at least we got crushed in the playoffs.
By the way, the best thing that could happen to the Cats recruiting wise right now (that they can't control) is for the Griz playoff run and eventual playoff streak to end. Certainly it won't help if the Griz make a run at the championship game. All the euphoria from Cat/Griz will just turn into statewide excitement for the Griz. Like the Grinch who stole Christmas, I will have none of it!!!

For the upteenth time. UM has the home game because of the bidding process. Reputation has nothing to do with it. Don't hate the Griz because they take advantage of the system. MSU would do the same and you know it.

thats kind of where i was going with this whole thing. if you noticed my post, i actually rattled off some of the montana kids that i know and would like to see play well. basically, all growing up, i hated the griz and could care less who they lost their asses to after the cats were done. but as i got older, i started playing sports with all of these guys. i attended tourneys around the country with some of them. and while i wish that they were bobcats, it's not the case. and while i wish we were in the playoffs it's not the case. what is the caae are several of the guys on the griz squad are dudes who i consider friends. and when their careers are all over at um, they'll just be more people on these boards who will disagree with everything cat griz. and when that happens, i will care less who the griz lose their asses to again, because i will have no idea about the kids on the other team 'cause alas...i will be an old, bitter, griz hater like the rest!MSUCATS wrote:While I understand that the farther the Griz go in the post season, means more money for the BSC...I, for one, cannot bring myself to root for Montana. Yeah, blame the NCAA. But the facts remain, all of this chest-pounding about how great our Griz are should have a big asterick (*) beside it because we are always granted the luxury of playing our tough games at home. We didn't want to play Cal Poly at their place, because we would have lost, so we just bought the game out and scheduled a sure win at home. Pad that record.
As a Griz fan, I am embarrassed that my team can just throw money at everything in order to pad the won/lost schedule. It is no mistake as to why our lifetime road playoff record is 0-6, or why we seemingly waltz into the NC game many years because we get to play every playoff game at home. It is embarrassing to me. Our record is manipulated and fabricated. We are rarely as good on the field as our record suggests.
You can spin it any way you like, but these are the facts. I'm not saying any IAA school wouldn't love to have this advantage. But, this does not change the fact that we are not worthy of our record. Any Griz fan who really believes that the 2005 Griz are a better team than the 2005 Cats has got his head up his *ss.

Looks like the trend will continue next year, as I believe Central Washington and South Dakota St. are scheduled to visit WA-Griz.

All these home playoffs games are not just because the NCAA likes us....that is what making the playoffs 13 years in a row will get you...not to mention 2 National Titles & being in the title game 5 out of the last 10 years....the Griz have EARNED IT. Saturday was a bad day for Griz nation, but the Griz, will fight another day, unlike the Cats who will be home for Turkey Day. It sucks to lose to our bitter rival, however any Cat fan that says they wouldn't trade us & be in the playoffs...is a liar.
