Chaz Guinn Story

Post by HelenaCat95 » Mon Nov 21, 2005 6:59 pm

Over the past two years, my grade school daughters developed a crush on Chaz Guinn (don't ask me why...it's a little girl thing I guess). Every game, wearing their #19 jersey, they would go talk to him afterwards, and get his picture taken with him....fun, harmless, "hero" worship.

Anyway, we decided not to take our girls to Cat/Griz, and gave their tickets away. After the game, we went down to say thank you to the players, and especially the seniors. When we saw Chaz, we said hi, Thank you, great job, etc. He asked where the girls were? We said that we left them at home. He said, " I've got to go, but give them these..." and gave me his receiver's gloves.

I was, and still am very touched that a Senior, playing probably his last football game ever, was so kind as to give his receiver's gloves (with mud all over them) to my girls. Needless to say, Chaz and the Athletic Department are getting a nice Thank You note from me....and my kids.

Thank you Chaz...if anyone could have made my Cat/Griz experience any better...you did.
:)

Chaz Guinn sounds like a great guy. He always seemed like it in TV interviews. Players like this give a good name to the Bobcat program. Thanks, Chaz.

GO CATS!
It's always a good day to be a Bobcat fan! :) =D^ \:D/
My name is Steve, if you'd like to know.

Very sorry to see him go this year. Hope he has a great time after college and good luck to him.

Yeah...I sure to hate having all of those "California Gangstas" on our team. They're nothing but trouble.

Yeah, it's shocking that he was able to act like such a respectful citizen without even wearing a suit and tie.

Great story, HC95. Thanks for sharing that with us.

I have to admit, I was genuinely teary-eyed watching the players celebrate on the field after the game, and I have nothing but respect and admiration for what they've accomplished and, in almost every single case, who they are as people. I'm so tired of hearing people ripping on these guys and athletes in general, and so it's always great to hear stories that cut past the facade that they exist for our personal pleasure/abuse and shows the human side of these guys.

Best of luck to Chaz and all of the seniors in wherver their lives may take them, and I hope they look back on their time at MSU with as much fondness as most of us will have in our memories of what they gave to our alma mater.

on another thread i said that maybe we need to lighten up a little on the dress code issue...it doesn't alway belie the human being that is behind the facade...so let's try not to prejudge based on appearance...or sound clips...

Those gloves were on the hands of the guy who caught Travis Lulay's last pass as a Bobcat. Talk about your collectors items!

Chaz Guinn quietly had a stellar season. He was our most sure handed reliable receiver all year!

Chaz never got the credit he deserved. How many 3rd or 4th down catches did he make this year on game winning drives. He was the "clutch player of the year" imo.

Yep. He belongs up there with the likes of Turnquist and Sullivan (possession type recievers).

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.
