Never going to a Cat/Griz game in Bozeman again.

Post by MaZooLaGriz » Sun Nov 20, 2005 8:43 pm

Betcha' that grabbed you, huh? Here's why...

Whitetrashgriz and El_Gato got on my butt for participating in a drive to locate the Griz "night before tailgate" in Livingston. They were right.

- Went to O'Ryan's and, with 4 other Griz fans, had what the very nice owner could only call "a steak worth the value".

- Went down to the 49'er, and with no other Griz fans, had a piece of "CAT GRIZ PARTY" pizza, which, despite being the first piece taken, was cold.

- Thought about driving the 20 miles to Bozeman, but glad we didn't 'cause we heard the next day that it was dead.

- Sat by the cannon that scared the s--t out of many around us every time it shook the old wooden stands.

- Couldn't make out the PA and couldn't see the numbers on the score board.

- Walked back to the car in the mud.

No, we're not deaf, blind or even old fuddy-duddies. But from now on, when the game's there, we're partying in Missoula and watching the big screen.

Now, this will probably be moved to the smack board, and I can undertand why. But, I don't mean it to be smack. Wish we could have the same fun over there, that you and we have when the game's here. There's something missing when it's not a two-way street.

I can't say I blame you for not wanting to go back to Bozeman. The travel can't be worth the losses that are piling up in this series. ;)

Ya know, the cannon scares the living daylights out of me everytime it goes off. It's called ANTICIPATION... we've all got it figured out now when the cannon will go off, but it doesn't mean that it still doesn't make me jump everytime it goes off!!

As for the PA, you didn't need to hear the PA... Nothing was happening for the Grizzlies.

The scoreboard?? What did that matter either? You didn't manage to put any points up until the 4th quarter!! And if you were watching the game, you would have known what the score was!!

Mud in Montana?? Where are you from?? The comment about you walking back to your car in the mud is not worthy of a response!
From now on, when the game's there, we're partying in Missoula and watching the big screen.
Good... the fewer in Bozeman, the better!!

I don't know how you can balme all that on it being in Bozeman. Your Livingston experience is out of our control. Where you get your tickets is out of our control. The guy right behind me at the game was from missoula and called and got tickets when they went on sale. On the mud problem I will see if I can get the weatherman to get us weather like we had the rest of the season, as that was the best weather we had all year. Besides a little mud never hurt anyone. All Bobcats will agree those bleachers have to go. And we had a great time Friday night and saw a lot of Griz fans out also.

I will be back to Missoula but here was my experience last year. First off I parked about 3 miles away from anything, however have been corrected since then on my mistake. As we are walking across the tail gate area a football comes from behind us and drills my wife in the back of the head. Sat next to a griz student that smelled like he had been on an all week bender, but I could relate, as I had my fun in colege too. But when he came back after halftime he had ****** himself and stunk miserably. We spotted 2 other seats that were not being used and moved. However the people behind us left the game because of his stench. When we got back to the car after wearing out my nikes, it had been side swiped and of course there was no note or anything.

But I do not blame the Grizzlies for the experience, just a bad weekend.
We really do strive to make all of our opponents have a great gameday experience, sometimes I think it is like getting a gift from your enemy, you don't know if you want to open it or not. I think the cats and the griz look at each otehr harder than our other conference opponents but it is easily said by every teams fans.

I would ask that you sit back and relax for a few days and bet it will seem better. Hell I griz fan I talked to after the game said this was the best road trip he had experienced when the griz lost, but that was because he found out the Town Pump in Belgrade had Bud/Bud Light on sale for like $12.00 a case or something.

Live life to the fullest, unless you are a griz, then don't live at all.

Glad to hear you're not coming back to Bozeman. That's just another seat for a Bobcat fan at the next Cat-Griz game. Cheerio, Ol' Chap. :D

BTW, what the heck did you expect from a low down griz fan running a bar in Livingston?!?! Tube steak!???!?!?

Oh, he was far from a Griz fan! But to the point of all this, it would be so damned nice to have another incredible facility in Montana, and a spirit to go with it. Just imagine a Missoula/Bozeman/Helena football environment, dominating almost all of college football.

Two Griz sat next to us in very comfortable seats with a good view of everything. They liked being so close to the field. We were all friends by the end of the first quarter. Went to Famous Dave's around 8 p.m. and it was about 50-50 Cats and Griz, even a lot of mixed couples. Met a nice couple from Missoula, said it was the best road experience ever, they look forward to the next one. Commented how friendly every one had been to them.

Congratulations 'Cats fans.

dont know how you can say there is nothing going on in Bozman. There was a great band at Mixers and every bar in town was packed, even the hole under the street, The Eagle's.

I went to O'Ryan's for the party and had a good time. Met Ryan and Scott and they are very nice. I will be going back there, hopefully soon. And they are very big Cat fans. Came back after the game and ate at the Rib and Chop (name?) place and enjoyed a very nice meal. Will be returning there as well.

It looked good... we'll try that ourselves next time we're through Livingston. Seems like a really neat little town, and enjoyed our night at the Murry.

So instead of saying that you won't be back, why not learn from the lesson and make it better next time. A couple of truths:
1) Griz fans don't burst into flames when they step into Bozeman
2) There are some great places to visit for night life in Bozeman
3) More motels are being built all the time; but if you prefer Livingston that's great too
4) There is an online seating chart that will allow you to be more selective as to where you purchase your tickets next time. I'm guessing you sat in the Pepsi Zone. Obviously you know that's not the best place to sit in the stadium.

If you decide to stay in Missoula next time, I guess that works. But, there are too many ways to come and enjoy Bozeman for you to say that it's not up to par with Missoula (and yes I've been to both football and basketball Cat/Griz games there).

We were about fifth in line to buy tickets. Maybe I shouldn't have bought them through UM?

You've got good points, barechest, and I'll ponder them. I guess it's a bit insincere to suggest that you guys build a better program, and then withhold my support. Could be I'm still smarting from the whippin', too.

Who told you Bozeman was dead on Friday night??? We went home about 11:30 because it was so packed you couldn't even walk through the bars.

Wouldn't break my heart either. I got a kick out of all the frizzlies in the pepsi zone. They must have been praying [-o< or something, cuz I didn't hear a peep out of them all game!! :-# Next time don't buy all the season tickets in the cheap seats and then complain... :-s

Bozeman dead on Friday? Is there a different Bozeman in the US he was referring to? There were live bands and tons of people downtown.

As for saying you'll never come to Bozeman again, what does that have to do with your time in Livingston? Last time I checked, Livingston and Bozeman are not the same city.

I'm sorry about the mud, I'll alert City Council and tell them to make the weather perfect next year.

The Stands are the only valid point in your whole rambling. Maybe another scoreboard.

The PA announcer is just fine.

So it leaves me with one conclusion - you are old fuddy-duddies.

Stay in Missoula, make room for someone who can handle football in Montana in November.
