Gameday Atmosphere

What a beautiful Saturday afternoon. That was probably the best weather we've had for a home game all year! The entire experience was great. Awesome food/drinks in the tailgates, and I really don't know if you can beat the atmosphere inside the stadium. The best part about Bobcat football games is that the game is our primary focus. I thought our marketing people did a GREAT job of keeping the football game just that a football game...not a circus. Saturday is what great college football is all about about. Muddy field, great fans, and most of all great student athletes busting their a$$es for their University.

There wasn't a commercial on the big screen, or some sort of corporate donation at every stop in play. The timing of the PA music was MUCH better. There weren't any cheeseball kiss-cams, birthday wishes, sing alongs...etc. Did anyone see any of the mascots on the field? I sure didn't notice them. That's the way it should be.

Great job to the athletic department of creating a great game day atmostphere, and keeping the game first and foremost.

I agree. Though I added to the circusness, I was painted blue from head to toe.

Totally agree. Real Grass/Real Atmosphere/Real Football. None of that sterile corporate stuff/circus from that other Montana team in Missoula.

Only complaint is those stupid Thundersticks, which violate conference rules concerning artificial nosiemakers.

I was at the top of the student section, and spent a lot of time looking at the tailgate area (far more interesting than the game). It's awesome how the students tailgate, whereas the tailgate at other universities ( some of which rhyme with University of Fontana) are nothing but retirees showing off RVs.

Also, how about all of the "you can't spell DUMB without UM" shirts and buttons? It seemed like everyone was wearing one or the other...or both. Simply stunning!

That was my friend. I just had a regular bear that I was kicking around like a soccer ball.

Grass/Mud/Snow/Sleet/Ice/Water/Hail ..... MSU will lay it on the line and play hard no matter what the surface. Just not plastic .. ick.

Almost looked at times by the player reactions that the Griz didn't know how to do their own laundry out there and thought their pretty white jersey's were going to be ruined with all that mud on them. I'm sure they had a lot of time to think about that while they were on their back atop a pile of Bobcats

My only complaint about your atmosphere was your PA guy. Is it really necessary to always say "Bobcat Stadium" 3rd Down & 3 to go, 11:27 on the clock, Griz on defense, Cats have the ball. Its 3rd down & 3 would suffice. Other than that you guys have a good atmosphere. If at all possible get rid of those endzone bleachers & close it in. I also couldn't believe how many people tailgated all game long. Get some money & noise out those people.

We are trying Need to definately get rid of south stands, bowl those in with dirt birm and then build horseshow on north side. Then we should be set for quite a while. Great rivalry! I met a lot of very nice Griz fans up there and had fun drinking some beers with them.

Can you believe it ... there are actually some people that don't really want to watch the game?! I know, I know, it's a hard thing to understand! There are students who want to be there for the atmosphere especially the CAT/Griz game. I'm sure some of them wanted to go to the game, but were unable to get a ticket. I'm sure you heard hooting and hollaring from those who weren't able to get into the game.

I do agree with getting rid of the bleachers on the East end and replacing them with real seats, or better quality bleachers. They've definitely been sore on the eyes for YEARS!! Why didn't they change those when they added on/changed the rest of the stadium? And WHY didn't they build seats/better bleachers on the west end? Instead, they eliminate seating on the west end completely!! I don't understand why they did that!!

The funny thing is that was probably his best game. He did refer to Groves once when Bass carried the ball-but his timing was much better throughout the game.

I kept thinking-how do we get our crowd into every game like when we play the griz? That's probably not realistic and our in game atmosphere is getting better, but our folks could really help the team out by being that involved in every game-especially on third down.

Going undefeated at home is a real milestone-first time in what-29 years? Is it a coincidence that we also set an attendance record? I'd like to think that our sellout crowds helped the team go undefeated at home!

Let's see...the Griz can only play meaningful games on their turf. Everyplace else with real grass they SUCK! Remember how aweful they played on the grass in Chatanooga last year. James Madison played on the same grass but they were able to handle it. I've been jealous of the Griz program for years. However, it seems your program is creating a team that can only play under ideal conditions. Quite frankly, the only reason the Griz have made it so far in the play-offs the last few times is their home field advantage. I would be nervous if I was Bobby for next year. The Griz dominance is peaking.

Man, how we wish that were true. I'm afraid it's more like the Griz dominance went into hybernation for a bit. But, we're way past letting that be a trend... we've reached the point of critical mass. There will be times when the flame cools, but the core will remain on fire. It would be fantastic if/when you guys reach that point, but it'll take more than you're willing to admit... things like rich donors being drawn into that mass - attracted to donating to YOUR cause because of its tradition. Instead, you elect to gripe about us doing that... what it takes.

In case you didn't notice I am a Griz fan. I was simply pointing out that if you could get all of those people into the game your crowd would be a lot louder & your athletic dept. could get more money out of them. It was far from a criticism.
