To smach the rumor early!!!

Post by 19CAT » Sat Nov 19, 2005 7:27 pm

I was told after the game by an older griz fan that they heard the bobcat grounds keepers were told to run water onthe field constantly for wed. and thursday. This is not true however they did have 2-3 inches of wet snow on wed. But what made the field so bad all day was that the frost was coming out as it thawed.

And besides both teams played on the same feild.

To be honest, I do not think the condition of the field had any impact on the game outcome. I think the Cats win either way. The Griz have won by forcing other offenses to make mistakes, and Lulay was not going to make those mistakes.

I don't think the field conditions had an effect on the out come of the game. Both teams seemed to be effected by it. The cats speed made it seem at times that the Griz ere more affected.

The field was a joke, but it didn't affect the outcome. If you put these two teams on a good field the cats would've won by more today.

Good point Re-Max. Although, some of those passes by Bergquist might have been caught had the recievers been able to plant their feet and amake a play on the ball. That being said, CB throws were off target most of the game, so ???????

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

The Griz's offense is the worst that I have seen this year! Seriously they suck! They have got the third best offense in Montna, Behind the cats and carroll! NAU made UM's offense look like little leaugers. Good luck in the playoffs Griz, you're gonna need it!

And Bobby didn't have a potty mouth either? Give me a break!! I saw Coach H expressing himself, just as Coach Kramer did.

I knew I felt bitter sweet about the Cats BEATING THE GRIZ 16-6 yesterday. Thank you for pointing out the field conditions and Kramer's attitude. I for one am appalled at both!

MSU should have never allowed water in any form to mix with natural grass and dirt creating mud. I have never heard of such a thing happening in football - especially here in Montana in November.

And for Kramer, I have never heard of a coach swearing in football or getting excited about play calling in an important game. This is unacceptable and immediate disciplinary action should be taken (i.e. training from other “example” coaches) in an effort to have Kramer only saying sweet and pleasant things while engaged in a battle of this magnitude.

I for one want to thank you Griz fans that TAKE THE TIME to point out these things. For the reasons above, I would like to start a petition to forfeit the game back to the Griz yesterday. They deserve the win based on these grounds. I know that would make them feel better about what actually happened on the field.

Here's to hoping that the Griz get a call shoved straight up THEIR arses in the playoffs so we can see what a class act Hauck is!

Seriously; can ANYONE explain to me how in the hell the refs gave the ball to the Griz on the punt that CLEARLY hit the Griz player in the back and then was CLEARLY recovered by the Cats?

Besides the obvious explanation that they're Big Sky refs, and therefore blind idiots, that is...

I'm not privy to what Coach K did or did not say during the game as I was sitting on the shady side (west actually SW side or simply the shady side). Now it is a poor man that must use profanity to communicate but I seriously doubt Coach K is the only coach in America to cuss during a highly emotional rival game. I'm not sure why the refs ruled the way they did when the Cats recovered the punt. Who knows??? Afterall, this was Big Sky refs........ Equal Opportunity Employer since both teams get hosed early and often in Big Sky games.

Have I cursed during emotional times whether in business or sports?? Guilty. Have I cursed at the griz?? Guilty. I'm a poor man some days :( Hopefully I'm alone in this department.

GO BOBCATS!! AMEN!!!

Is this honestly what Gonzo is complaining about? That Kramer got after the officials for an absolutely horrendous call? That he showed some emotion in a huge rivalry game?

Gonzo, you're either a saint or an idiot.

AMAZING!!!

I was over on E-Griz last night and after reading their whining about the field, it made me sick. What happened in 2002? It was cold and snowing in Missoula...geez was the field frozen? Was it slippery on that beautiful Friz Grass?? Was it a white out at times they couldn't see the white Bobcat jersey of Junior running into the end zone? Then in 2003, our field was cold and frozen. Conditions weren't that great but we managed. Then go back to last years NC game.. All you heard was a bunch of complaining about the turf being in sorry shape. I agree it was a poor job of field maintenance, but you have to be able to adjust to the conditions. JMU did and won the game. The Griz have a distinct advantage playing at home. WG stadium is the class in 1 AA. The loud crowd benefits the Griz. So when they talk about an "unfair" advantage that the Cats had yesterday, they need to look at what great advantage playing at home gives them. The Cats made the right plays and adjusted to the conditions. I wish them luck next week against Poly, but they need an offense if they are going to win. Rant is over!

Borrowing a line from one of my favorite all-time LB's (Jack Lambert). "Maybe we should just let the griz wear skirts, and the Cats won't hit them at all." You know how the griz just hate it when the uniforms get dirty.

probably was smack - I'll go to a neutral corner.

You cannot recover a fumble after an opposing player has been blocked into the ball. But from where I was sitting, it looked like the ball hit the Griz player and then the Bobcat hit him. I was in the handicapped section right behind the play.

I figured that's was the ref's reasoning. I think we got screwed, but it wasn't that the refs didn't see the ball hit Waller it was that they thought he was blocked into the ball-which he wasn't.

Kramer went Lou Pinella on the poor side judge and later the field judge? (the guy with the F on his back) who I think was the one who emphatically insisted the call be reversed. I don't remember the game or even the season, but I clearly remember Hauck going equally balistic on a ref like Kramer did-his lips were easy to read and wasn't reciting bible verses. And I've seen many, many coaches, both pro and college do the same thing.

As for the field-how short are our griz friend's memories. Their field turned to oatmeal every November up until just a couple of seasons ago when the fake turf was installed. The weather conditions that consipired to make such a mess are somewhat rare in Bozeman, usually the field stays frozen in December. It was just obscenely nice and warm yesterday. I know I had on about 2 layers too many.
