Is there still a chance at a playoff?
I see that if you guys win it gives EW the chance to go and Montana will also go? If you lose then EW will probably not go? Is there any hope of you guys going? I want you guys to beat the living tar out of Montana. Good Luck!

If we beat the Griz, Eastern Washington WILL win the auto-bid, regardless of what they do against UC Davis. The Griz will undoubtedly get an at-large bid due to their ranking, their 7-2 record (DII win & DI loss don't "count"), and their ability to send $$$ to the NCAA with a playoff game at WaGriz.
There is a debate regarding MSU's status should we win; I think most of us believe we are out even if we win, mainly because with the Griz in and Eastern in (with a 7-4 record at best), it's really doubtful the committee would select another 7-4 Big Sky team, especially one that lost big to Cal Poly and EWU.
There is a small minority that think 7 I-AA wins coupled with a win over the highly-ranked Griz would still give us a shot, with help from some other current 6 & 7 win teams; I think these folks are drinking a bit too much Jack these days... jk!

El- we all know that the I-A loss is not supposed to count, so with a win against the griz, we could be "7-3". We should get some sort of consideration. I just don't think that we should throw in the towel just yet. In 2002 or 2003, three BSC teams went to the playoffs, and I don't think that we had the highest rated conference that year.
I am not ready to give up hope on the playoffs yet. I will be at the game this weekend and I will be trying to scream louder than the rest of you! I still have hope!!

This Griz hopes you guys make the playoffs if you beat us on Saturday. Since we have the toughest conference, I think we should have at least 3 BSC teams going to the show. I read where one of the weaker conferences ranked below us has a REAL possibility to get 4 in! This is BS if you ask me.grizband wrote:I for one hope the Cats get a playoff berth. The more teams from the West (especially Montana), the better. I think if they get in, the Cats could do some real damage, especially if they were able to get a home game.
Again, I can honestly say, if you guys beat us on Saturday (not going to happen

My two cents...

If three from the 'Sky get in, that would take away Cal Poly's berth. Even EWU getting the autobid would make those Mustang fans very worried.grizband wrote:I for one hope the Cats get a playoff berth. The more teams from the West (especially Montana), the better. Yep. I'd love to see the Cats make it (although not quite enough to wish for a cat win on Saturday), but I'm here to tell you, give up your dreams of a playoff bid. It ain't gonna happen. Poly and the second place (e.g. non-auto-bid) from the Southland will both have better credentials than the Cats. That's 2 teams for PERHAPS one available spot before the committee would even consider MSU.theblackgecko wrote:If three from the 'Sky get in, that would take away Cal Poly's berth. That's not absolutely true. By that I mean if Nicholls loses, they won't make it. If Texas State loses, they won't make it because they have two D-II games and won't have enough D-I wins to be an at large consideration. If both lose, Nicholls wins the tie breaker and goes.
RE: Cal Poly, it isn't a set number of teams from a region that goes. So, to say that if we go we'd be taking Cal Poly's spot is nonsense. The at large teams are considered on a nationwide basis and it doesn't matter where they come from.

Actually if both Nicholls & Texas St. lose McNeese gets the automatic berth.barechestcat wrote:

You could be right. I was thinking in that scenario there was a three way tie with Nicholls winning the head to head tiebreaker.anacondagriz wrote:Actually if both Nicholls & Texas St. lose McNeese gets the automatic berth.barechestcat wrote:

Here's something light for such a deep heated debate this week.
My son and I play "Bobcat" as he likes to call it before every game. If he catches the pass, then what I said before the pass comes true. For instance I will say if you catch this Lulay will have 3 or more touchdowns this weekend. We started this last year. The first 8 games were more than a fluke. He nailed it better than 75% of the time. I can't remember the game but we were down quite a bit at halftime. He wanted to go play bobcat so we went to the track field next to the stadium. I started with the Cats will win the game. He caught it. Next Lulay will score 2 touchdowns--he missed. Lulay will score 3 touchdowns--he missed. Lulay will score 4 touchdowns the 2nd half. He caught it. Lulay scored or was involved in 4 TD. The Cats one. It was amazing. The "bobcat" drill did not work after Sac State.
This year it has been hit and miss and probably 50-50. One thing interesting is we played this over the summer several times. I always start out with the big goals first as he hasn't warmed up yet so the catches should be tougher. The first one is always the Cats will win a National Championship this year. He hasn't caught one of these. Here's the preseason rundown--The Grant Indicator--Cats play for national championship but don't win. They lose to EWU but beat the Griz. They don't win the BSC but still make the playoffs (they have to make the playoffs if they play for the national championship). Lulay is not BSC offensive player of the year nor 1-AA player of the year. Lulay does not average 400+ yards/game. Grant indicator says he averages 300+.
There you have it. GI predicts a Bobcat win this weekend and a play-off berth.
