Did anyone attend the QB club meeting tonight or hear what was said?

No, but I'm going to the coach's corner meeting in about 45 minutes. I'll report back when it's done.

Just got back from the coach's corner at the Holiday Inn. Pretty vanilla for the most part.

EWU game: Very disappointed in the coaching, play of the WR. He mentioned that they did the three things they wanted to do as a defense: keep Kimble limited, less then 100 yards for Cole rushing, maintain outside contain on Meyer. Coach mentioned that every play that Meyer scrambled for up the middle (he hadn't done that all year), we had a spy that was assigned to him. The problem was that Mac, Epi missed tackles on him that would have been the difference on a couple of scoring drives as they were third down plays. Coach basically summed it up as breakdowns on our part that led to opportunity for EWU; not EWU creating opportunity. He pointed to the special teams with things such as a fumbled catch on a kickoff return, blocks in the back that negated nice returns and created poor field position, the INT (he said on film that Gatewood lined up six yards too close to Travis and that effected the angle the play was designed to create), the fumbled snap (Travis came back to the sideline and took full responsibility saying he just didn't clamp the ball). Basically this sequence of events coupled with a couple of three and outs by our offense took the game from a 14-7 game and put us into a "need to pass picture".

Coach K said he is really on Junior (WR coach) to inspire his players to play a better game this Saturday.

Cat/Griz game: Other then being optimistic about this Saturday and mentioning the players being excited to play the game, he said that their game plan is to look at the Griz players individually and evaluate how they can impact the game and establish ways to hinder their play/take advantage of situations created.

Coach refused to talk about anything other then Cat/Griz. He wouldn't talk about conference championships, playoff possibilities or anything else. He said that in order for any of those things to have a chance, the Cats need to win the game. So, that's their entire center of concentration.

Finally, he promised that there will be a much better effort from the coaching staff and players this weekend.

Phew, mabe we see will some good coaching ie; Bailey?

This is going to be a fun game. I am getting to the stadium early!

To be honest this sounds to me like Kramer is trying to place the coaching heat (on the offensive side of the ball) on Junior, and take it off of Bailey. Right now I could see Kramer petitioning those with influence to let him keep Bailey and get a new WR coach if there was an outcry for coaching changes. I think Junior is getting set up to take the fall.

Who coaches our WR's on catching the ball? See any drops that last game? Hmmm

I'm not placing blame on anyone at the moment. But to me, if you are having trouble getting open/fundamentals catching the ball you have to look there first. Running a great schemed play/routes for the WR's does absolutely no good if the WR's can't hang on to the ball or create an opening/crease where the QB can put the ball when there open. FUNDAMENTALS people. We need to work on fundamentals this week and all will be okay.

I didn't get that feeling. Basically Kramer was speaking to all of the dropped passes on Saturday. Also, he was getting at the fact that the receivers ran lazy routes, gave up on some routes, didn't improvise to get open when they finished the route and the play was still developing. I can personally attest to using more then a few choice words during the game when I would see a receiver stop running the route or just stand still when he hit his target mark and Travis was still trying to find someone open.

Oh, ok. Now that makes me feel a lot better.

I would like to think that the best possible effort in every situation would have been given last weekend in the biggest game of the year. In the future, we should look into trying to come with the best effort BEFORE our playoff hopes are gone...

That being said, I hope it is a much better effort. I'd love to see Lulay's career end with a complete dismantling of the Griz D.

Good Lord, Cat Pride, every post I've seen of yours today has been the most negative pile of crap I've seen. These kids still have one more game left. Let's go out and give them all the support they need this weekend. You can come back and piss and moan next Sunday.

I was there and if they can't get it handled against EWU, well then we don't deserve to go any further. I am really sick and tired of hearing all of the excuses that Kramer has been leading all of us on as of late. It all started back after the debacle at Cal Poly. There is no excuse for the drops in the middle of November in my opinion. If those coaches can't light the fire, then well maybe they aren't in the right job profession. They (coaches and players) better pull their heads out, and play with whatever they can find in each and everyone, because if we can't beat the Griz in our house, Fields better start finding someone who can!

When a reciever drops a pass it is no ones fault but his. This is 1-AA football being played at its highest level. You gotta catch the ball especially in BIG games. I'm hoping that this won't be an issue this week.

If Bailey called for a pass play longer then 5 yards vs eww, then maybe the wede rreceivers would have found an opening. I was just sick watching the same short over the middle pass play vs ewu.

Bailey needs go. If Kramer protects him, he can go too.

By the way, no way is Krames setting Jr. up. He was a pallbearer @ Jr.'s dad's funeral, Jr refers to Kramer as his father now. Kramer feels the same. A blindman could listen to Attebery call all the passes dropped.

Kramer also fired Coach Smith (RB coach) after being with him one year. Kramer referred to Coach Smith as his “son,” and Smith was the first coach Kramer added to his staff. That one year was the 0-11 year. Kramer said that the RBs were the only position that didn't get any better. Now keep in mind that Ryan Johnson was one of those players that didn't get any better. I would place the blame on the play caller during the 0-11 year, that of course being Kramer (he was the offensive coordinator in 2000; Bailey came in for the 2001 season). So he place blame on Coach Smith in 2000 and had him fired, even when he was the offensive coordinator. Kramer fired his “son” after a disappointing year, and I think he would do the same to Junior Adams if it took the heat off of him and Bailey.

How IS THAT POSSIBLE? How, at this time of the year, in a game with Conference, and National Playoff implications, DO YOU STOP RUNNING ROUTES as a receiver?

Unbelievable.

I know the boyz were distracted, heck there were VOLLEYBALL players playing VOLLEYBALL in the gym. Gurl VOLLEYBALL players. That explains everything. Those recievers where THINKING VOLLEYBALL. Whew, I thought it was a coaching problem.

Good to know the reasons why we lost last week. It had nothing to do with trashing a running game that scored our only competitve TD the whole game!!!

I stand behind Coach Adams & Coach K 100%. They are getting the job done. Sometimes not at the success rate I want to see but nevertheless MSU Football is improving every year. For example, the CATS are now good enough to make the griz at least prepare for CAT/griz. Heck, when Coach Hysell arrived after Solmanson we were the laughing stock of 1 AA football. Back then, the griz usually kicked our arse BEFORE half time. Coach K has certainly improved the program from where Cliff ressurected it. Coach Jr. Adams is a true MSU BOBCAT HERO!! Who caught the pass and ran to the house to end "the streak??!!?!" He is serving MSU with CAT CLASS & CAY STYLE. GO COACH ADAMS!!

Here's to Coach Adams & the MSU receivers who have the proven ability to shut our MSU Alumni mouths and the griz fans too. Run the routes, catch the ball, and score lots of touchdowns!! GO CATS!!!
