If your jumping ship, jump now!

Post by autocat » Mon Nov 14, 2005 9:18 pm

If you need to slash your wrists, do it now! Some of us need to take a deep breath and relax! Some may need to cut-back on the Viagra dosage and some need to find another team to follow! There are many possibilities from the outcome of Saturday's 1AA games, so don't rule out everthing. If you need to jump ship do it now! (Those of you ready to jump, you are probably the same people that would be celebrating on the field after the game when the Cats win.) If the Cats win against the #3 team could the margin of victory and the strength of schedule be the deciding factor in the playoff scenario? Is a 7-4 record and an outside shot at the playoffs and a victory against the Griz a disappointing season? You decide.

If we beat the griz and thus go 7-4 I consider it to be a good season. My concern is how do we improve, especially without TL under center?

Never jumping ship. I love the Cats win or lose. But I do love them more when they win

The Cats are my team and they will always be my team. But once you have a taste of winning, you want more. I'm not jumping ship and 7-4 is a great season especially with a victory over the Griz. Being a playoff contender is great. We just want to get there.

GO CATS!

Serious Question- No Smack (no flame wars please)

How do the Cats win without the red headed one?

He was so damn durable over his career, did you ever have to find out?

Seems like he never missed a game....so who plays next year?

Also: Do the Large Human and Bailey get to keep their jobs? Not "gettin er done" witht he talented one at QB....makes a guy wonder (at least a little?)

Go Griz

Cory Carpenter should be the #1 guy in Spring ball. Not enough "live" snaps to guage his ability yet, but everything I've heard is that he is a talented kid. From my limited knowledge of him, I'd guess he will be a better passer than Lulay; the question will be whether or not he's a better athlete or leader.

Kramer will be back, no question. Bailey? I don't know; I suspect Kramer will hear his name mentioned by a lot of fans & boosters this off-season.

I think skills wise, Carpenter has plenty to lead us next year. He is bigger, just as fast, and has a stronger arm than Travis but his intangibles and leadership skills are totally unknown. Having been in the program for 3 years should really help. I am as worried about our receiving corp as I am the QB position. I envision a large number of Div. 1-A drop downs to fill that void.

Kramer is back no question and I think so is Bailey. I don't see Kramer wavering on his support of his O-coordinator after so many seasons of the same. It seems like every time his head is called for, Kramer ratchets his public support up another step.

How did the jizz win without Dave dickenson? You find someone else to lead your team. People were saying the same thing when we lost Ryan Johnson.

So autocat, by your reasoning if a person voted for Kerry they should leave the country? Just because you question or don't like those in power doesn't mean you are "jumping ship." Accusing fans of becoming turncoats because they want to win is ridiculous. Let our fans voice their opinions. It is good that we are not ready to settle for mediocrity.

We might be better next year. The defense should be very good. I am not sure on this, but aren't we switching back to the 4-3 next year? The offense will be more balanced with the running of Groves and Taito. Carpenter should be just fine and develope nicely while Groves and Taito establish themselves. The only real question I have is who will be the WR's next year. If we can come up with three solid WR's the Cats will do well!!

GO CATS!!

Look at the Minnesota Vikings without Daunte Culpepper. They've won their last two games w/o him. It's nice to have a great QB, but when the entire team leans on him too much it negates the bottom line. A lot of good teams out there without great QBs. Just look at what UM has done with Cole Bergquist and Jason Washington.

MSU returns a lot on defense and the offense has Taito, Groves at RB, Carpenter at QB, and a few transfers coming in at reciever. The o-line has Birkeland, Jensen, Barnhardt and Bostick back. Also has good reserves in Smith, Beniger, DeCock, Hanson, and Verlanic. Brown and Lulay are promising recievers, but I'd expect MSU to get a couple transfers there and on the line.

Defense gets Matakis back on the line and only loses Rogers there. LBs will have Daly to replace Mac and Mauia (replace Marudas) to go with Lowe and King. DBs lose Hunter/Grenfell, but will gain Chris Davis and LeBlanc will move in for Grenfell. D may go back to 4-3.

So "no" I don't think the loss of Lulay will have that big of an effect.

This reminds me of something that happened Sunday after the game. I went into one of my places of employment and was promptly greeted by a pimple faced coworker that is a fan of that other Montana team. He asked why I was wearing that "garbage" (my hat) since the Cats were beaten badly by EWU. I simply stated that I am not a bandwagon fan like he is with the griz and that no matter what the Cats do on Saturday I will still be a fan on Sunday. I am dissapointed that we lost but I will still be screaming my lungs out come Saturday. GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keeps us from having our team turn into the Browns (or Cats).

The Ryan Johnson comment may have been true. We never did replace him!

True, Gtapp, but we found other players to step up and continue the winning. Next year we will find other players to step and do the same. Who knows maybe the next Ryan Johnson is here. Maybe the next Lulay is sitting on the bench waiting their turn to prove what they can do.

Cory will be fine next year, he's a darn good qb in his own right. He's not as athletic or nearly as fast as Lulay actually, but thats my only comparison. It's not fair to compare the two. We'll just have to let Carp be Carp. He'll have growing pains, reads to not just learn, but put to practice. He hasn't gotten to "play" for the last 3 years. Our oc will have to adjust the offense to fit his style and abilities. I think our d has a chance to be better next year and we should do fine. Remember when we made it to the playoffs when we had a freshman qb and dominant defense. I also think we'll get a few transfer receivers, we need competition, but our cupboard isn't as bare as first glance might appear. We have some Bobcat kids who have been with the program since their freshman year and have heart. I truly think this makes a difference when it comes to giving that 100%. One can say whatever they want about Scott Turnquist and his not being as fast or jumping as high as someone. Tell you what, not once did you see Turney give up on a route, I'm not saying he caught every ball in his career, but never did he give up on a ball.
