Worst Top 25 Loss: No. 21 Eastern Washington 35, No. 11 Montana State 14

Montana State controlled its own destiny for the Big Sky title going into the final two weeks of the season, but had to get through Eastern Washington and Montana. The Bobcats often have to rely on late-game heroics to knock off strong opponents, but the fourth quarter was more of a formality after laying an egg against the Eagles. The Bobcats took an early, 7-0, lead, but Eastern Washington scored the next 35 points to hold a 35-7 advantage going into the fourth quarter. Travis Lulay had an average day (25-of-50, 237 yards, 1 INT, 1 TD) and the Bobcats gave up 35 points despite holding Erik Meyer to 206 yards passing. Montana State can still become playoff eligible by knocking off Montana next week, but the Bobcats can’t win the Big Sky automatic berth and are likely on the outside looking in even with a 7-4 record.

Like I said earlier, MSU needs a HUGE win over UM. Break 40 and hold them in the teens. Then maybe we can open this MSU in the playoffs discussion again. That 21 point loss to EWU hurt. If MSU keeps that game close, it just has to win over UM by a point to get in.
