I hope we do get all 3 QBs from Montana, because it sounds like they are all fantastic athletes, and they they will all have a chance at being great Bobcats.

God, I hope not! Personally, I can't stand maroon!

I hope that wasn't smack. Just kind of a weak attempt at humor.

It's tough to guess where Selle will end up and everyone has a different opinion based on "personal info."

Remember when you recruit you don't necessarily want the best guy as much as you want the guy who can BECOME the best guy--i.e. the guy with the most tools to be a good college QB.

I think Desin is at the top of his QB game whether he is the best in the state or not at that position. I don't think though that he is as good of a football player as he will become. I think he's worth going after if you go in knowing that he will be a receiver.

Selle is certainly the most at the top of his game other than the 2 others, but maybe he has a higher ceiling too. If you want a kid to come in and play college ball now, it's Selle. If you want to develop an All-League type of guy then you have to be sure Selle has the room for improvement unless he's already there.

Larson has the tools, the build, etc though maybe doesn't have the speed and rhythm that it takes to play bigtime ball yet. AA ball is so much faster than B--doesn't mean the guy isn't as good, he'd probably be every bit as dominating at AA but he's not there yet. So you have to ask yourself if you're a coach if you think Larson has anything specific to offer that Selle can't. If you think they're even then you take Selle because he's a little more developed at QB now.

It's tough and that's why there's so much speculation. Now if the Cats want to switch and run the Veer option then they better go get Desin.

**when i say speed in reference to Larson I'm not talking about his speed as much as the speed of the game at that level.

Expect a bunch of USC transfers next year. They have too much talent and they can't all play!
How many of Kramers recruits are still part of the program :?: :?: Everyone seems to forget; all Kramer wants is a quick fix and we're all willing to except it for the fact we want to WIN. We are so desperate to be where the Grizzlies are, that a quick fix is JC's. Forget about building a program where you see an athlete start as a freshman and blossom into a Senior or a redshirt Senior, a respectible member of the community and university,a GRADUATE of MONTANA STATE, don't be silly

Are there players that bust in college football? Yes. Does it happen only at MSU? NO!!! Your point is moot. It's the nature of the business; some people just don't work out like they were projected to. A good program recruits a certain amount of high school athletes every year and a certain number of JC's and that same program is also always on the look out for impact players that transfer in from higher levels of play.

Because we are a relatively young team in a lot of positions and because several of the walk ons have earned scholarships, we are only looking at recruiting somewhere in the neighborhood of 7-10 players from high school this year.

If your job was based upon performance, wouldn't you look for the best you could find and not just concentrate locally? If a Montana kid is the best we find at a given position, they deserve and do get the scholarship (see Brandon Hoffenbacker). But, if there is a better Rb, LB, etc from WA, MN, CA, etc. it makes sense to bring those players in. Are they guaranteed to work out? No. But not every Montana kid does either.

I asked you in a previous post to provide a list of HS seniors you think are capable of playing at this level. I think Selle, Desin and Larson are quality QB's and evidentally we're recruiting them. We don't need RB this year. What about OL? WR? TE we don't need. DL? LB? Corners?

My bet is you didn't play college ball and have no idea what it is you're talking about. You are an arm chair QB at best who knows nothing of the inner workings of college ball. On the other hand, I did play and experienced it first hand.

Offense: high school quarterback, 3-4 JC/transfer WR, one lineman, maybe a transfer QB. But, he would need to be the "right" one. He said that TE, RB are young and solid.

Defense: one HS lineman, one safety, 2 (I think) LB, one corner

I should have written this down to be more accurate as I know the above list is not completely correct.

But, he talked about his staff's approach of encouraging HS athletes to walk on and "earn" the scholarship. He made mention of a couple of walk-ons who have done that.

He did say they have offered scholarship to four HS athletes. Three were still considering MSU and one had committed to UM.

Does this mean Kramer will be going with all "new" WR's next year instead of the underclassman we have. If I am reading this correctly he is bringing in 3-4 JC WR's so he must not have a lot of confidence in the guys we have!

Then why not stay with HS recruits or at least 2 and 2? We have four RS freshmen WR's on scholarship and a couple more true freshmen. If they are of high quality I could see maybe one or two experienced WR's (JC or drop down) being brought in to add some experience but when you add four it says "oops I guess those guys I recruited arn't so good after all" to me.

The gist of what he said regarding our underclassmen receivers is that he does not have much confidence in them (he pointed to Roosevelt's play when Tramaine got hurt). So, he is planning on trying to find 3-4 guys to bring in as immediate impact type players.

That scares me! As has been mentioned before Kramer only brings in 15 - 20 kids per year (since he gives few, if any, partials) so how can you miss on 3 or 4 kids (all WR's) in one year (assuming you know what you are doing)? He cannot afford to be wrong on that number and still be competitive!

I went to the senior - west game last night and I was not very impressed by Mark Desin. He had quite a few low passes and never seemed to get into a rythm. Selle started out kind of slow, but ended up throwing for 4 TD's. Overall I would give Desin a 'C' and Selle an 'A-'.

Fridays Stats:

Desin 25-50 275 yds. 2 TD(1 rush) 3 INT

Selle 20-34 320 yds. 4 TD 1 INT

*EDIT*
Selle had 320 yards, not 302 yards as I stated originally.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether this year's crop of Montana high school talent is good compared to recent classes? Looks like there are 3 QBs who could potentially play at the IAA level. How about other positions?

BULLETIN:  Since Bobby Hauck was hired as Head Football Coach of the Montana Grizzlies; do you realize, he and his staff have signed every Montana recruit they have gone after :!: :!: Should be interesting to see if Selle becomes a Grizzly.

With the experience that his brother had in Missoula, I would say UM is not high on his list. Of course crazier things have happened.
