i still dont get it.......
every day i am more amazed by the stuff that i read in these threads. let me start by saying that i am one of the cat fans that truly does appreciate the griz program, and tradition. it is certainly one to be admired. but what i don't understand are some of you guys that think that you are actually a better person because the griz win football games. i dont get it. the 90's and early 2000's sucked to be a cat fan. they were bad. winless seasons, poor talent, and poor fans. but it's over. we are turning things around. it's not going to happen overnight, but we are winning games, and beating the griz. it's awesome that you guys made the playoffs, and won championships. i dont tell my friends this, but i am a guy who if the griz aren't playing the cats, i dont mind seeing them win. i am just so annoyed that we cant have any smack, without hearing about playoffs, and winning seasons. we obviously cant have 20 winning seasons in a row in a year! i remember being little and my big brother and i would get into some serious battles. some major screaming goin on. and everytime i'd get frustrated, he'd just say he was better because he was older! and see, for some of you guys who dont understand, if my bro is 6 years older, he will always be 6 years older. so whenever he didn't have a point, he'd just say that he was better/stronger because he was older which isn't true. and when we are sitting here talkin' ****** to one another, and the true cat fans have some legit comments about this years griz, you can bet any amount of money that the thread will lead into playoffs talk! love your team and tradition, but please, live in the present and focus on this years team! because unless i am wrong, no one has made the playoffs or won a national championship yet.

WTGriz,
I think tradition is a big thing for Griz players and fans. Its something we've got in our recent history, so it's something a lot of fans can easily talk about.
The "Griz nation" has grown by leaps and bounds due to their success, and a lot of times the Griz fans who jump up and talk about all the recent success of the Griz can only reference that b/c they've only been a Griz fan for a few years, possibly even just one, they could just be going off what they've heard/read from other people.
That said if the cats had won a NC in 1995 and 2001, and made 3 other trips to the playoffs while the Griz were working on a slow moving turn-around to get back into BSC greatness, Cat fans would be jumping all over Griz fans about their teams recent NC and playoff success.

i agree re/max. the smack boards are great, but like i said before, there are just too many idiots that ruin it for some of us. and while i wouldn't be cat fan baggin' on the griz, they'd be out there. that's the difference between classy, knowledgable fans such as yourself, and guys like grizlaw, and dudes like bearbac, and mazoola. and wolf! although i don't know where we classify him! guess what i'm trying to say is i love talkin' crap. i ahte the griz, and i love it. and you guys hate the cats. but you know what? i dont hate the griz of 1986. or 95. or 98. or 2001. i just hate the griz. and i like to talk crap to guys like you who will come back at me, not spittin' insults or lies, but simply...hating the cats! that's what it's about. thanks for the reply.Re/Max Griz wrote:WTGriz,

Well put, Re/Max. We Griz fanatics know full well that this wouldn't be much fun without the Cats, and besides... there is this "Montana thing" that just has to remain at some level.
I'm afraid that "whitetrashgriz" (affectionate user name, don't you think?) took offense at some recent posts about an invitation to a Griz/Cat game party at Bennigan's in Bozo. I took advantage that he posted in on the smack board, to do a little kidding. See link below. But, despite some disclaimers, he didn't take it in the nature it was intended. Perhaps they just don't have the same sense of humor on the east side of the divide?

Yeah, I agree with pretty much everything that everyone else has said. I think all sports rivalries are the same in this regard, whether it's Yankees-Red Sox, Rangers-Devils, Michigan - Ohio State, Washington - Washington State, or any other rivalry. There are always going to be good fans who just have fun with it, and then there will be some who live vicariously through their teams and can't help spitting out insults and venom when they win (or lose). For my own part, I was probably a bit more of an obnoxious trash talker a few years ago when I was still in school (now, I'm only an "occasional" obnoxious trash talker
). Now that I'm a few years older, it's easier to see that this really is just a bunch of kids playing a game (albeit, a game that I love).

i....ugh...agree with ya mazoola. and i dont take offense to anything. i can talk crap with the best of them. and i knew the username would be a problem for some. that's kind of why i did it! lol. but i did my research. i was on these boards for about a month before i thought of a good one. i'm sorry, but i just cant help but picture bearbac. after his "girlfriend" leave for her job at wendys, he puts on his purple zoomba pants, and faded griz sweatshirt from 1992. he has to leave his trailer for 2 reasons, one, he doesn't have a computer to spit his trash. and 2, his "girl" still thinks he's holding down his job at the quik-way. so he borrows a little bmx bike from a local trailer, and he's on his way to that quik-way. can't start the day without a little busch 40 ouncer right? now he's on a way to a buddies house, mullet flapping behind him. his pal still has a computer, at least until rent-to-own comes and takes it back because he is jobless too and those $24 payments aren't paying themselves every week. so, he pounds what's left uf the busch before heading up the 3 stairs into the brown and green trailer, and throws the can with the rest of them at the doorstep. walk inside, pop in some night ranger, and try to post as many threads aspossible because you never know when those damn rent-to-own guys will come knocking on the door. go CATS!MaZooLaGriz wrote:Well put, Re/Max. that's not taking offense...just sharing my opinions. i thought that you were TRYING to be an idiot. turns out i was right. you said yourself you were stirring it up because i posted the invitation in the smack-talk thread. and i thought you were trying to be dUMb. you said yourself that you were "pulling my chain" if you really read any of my posts, you'll see that the only one that i actually took offense to was wolfs rediculous post about black guys! i can disagree and talk trash to griz folk, without taking offense or even caring about what they post. right?MaZooLaGriz wrote:Yeah?whitetrashgriz wrote:i dont take offense to anything.

What??? Who thinks they are a better person when the GRIZ win??
The GRIZ, a quarter century of total football dominance over the cats.

WTgriz,
Another thought I had while watching MNF.
Look at the Peyton/Brady comparison. It was published in this weeks SI that Peyton has more TDs per game and an overall higher passer rating. I think he also averaged more yards per play. You compare those stats and someone might think that Peyton is a better QB, but the comparison always goes back to their playoff preformance, Brady is 9-0 in the playoffs while Payton is 3-5. People use the post season to compare players and teams, its something they do.

"Some people" might make those comparisons, ReMax, but they'd be WRONG!
Football TEAMS win championships; that has little/nothing to do with who's a better INDIVIDUAL player at his position.
If I had to pick a QB right now to start a franchise with, it would not be Tom Brady. Yes, he's won 3 Super Bowl rings BUT that does not even come close to proving that he's the best QB in the league. If you put Brady on the Colts & Manning on the Pats for the past 5 years, do you really think the Colts would've accomplished more or the Pats less? I think not.
By that logic, Doug Williams, Trent Dilfer, and Brad Johnson are all better QB's than Peyton Manning & Dan Marino.
I, for one, have never tried to claim that Lulay is a better QB than DD was, even though he has now passed DD's regular season #'s (and just became only the 5th collegiate QB EVER to throw for 10,000 yards and run for 1,000); Dickenson's #'s/game, his TD/INT ratio, his overall wins, and his NC ALL point to him being the superior QB.
HOWEVER, I will say that Travis Lulay has been every bit as important to MSU football as DD was to the Griz program. Both have the distinction of being the greatest QB their program ever had and both will be revered as such for the rest of their lives; it's sad that so many pathetic griz fans REFUSE to see any quality players outside of WaGriz (or specifically in Bozeman). I'm amazed at the # of dolts in marijaunaville who are unimpressed by Lulay, no matter what he accomplishes...

ya, i agree with certain post season theories. in the this case it makes sense because many of the players on both rosters, including coaches, and the mentioned quaterbacks are the same as the ones in the previous years. so it's a fair comparison to say that brady and manning while both good, you may have to give the edge to brady 'cause he's a winner. and i agree. i'm just saying that i could care less how many playoff apperances the griz have in their history. what means something to me is how many players and coaches on this years team have playoff experience because that is important. i'm not taking away anything from any griz team that has made the playoffs, because it's a great accomplishment. but for the sake of comparison, and arguing, i just dont think this years team is better than the cats because the team has been so successful in the past.Re/Max Griz wrote:WTgriz,
