I used to drink YellowTail before we moved (I'm a shiraz girl so this was the right place for me!) but haven't drank it since we moved here. I'm currently really liking Eyre Creek

When I was there, people usually drank a beer that was brewed in their state. It was not Fosters or Quatro Equies. They have great beer, but they also love thier Vegemite (extremely salty). Can you eat that stuff? Have you learned to eat with your fork turned backwards yet?

Ugh - that stuff is disgusting. Think really salty Soy Sauce mixed with cornmeal that has about the same consistency as peanut butter and you get the idea. It must be an acquired taste!

However, Arnott's TimTams (chocolate wafer-type cookies) are quite delicious. Our sister company's Director of Sales used to bring a couple packages with him when he made it this way every 6 months or so but he retired a while back.

If you really want to try Vegemite, you can get it at World Market - i think you can get Arnott's cookies there too, but I don't think they have the exact same things as TimTams.

Just like Outback Steakhouse is a ruse as well... Nothing really Australian about it. Heck, they could at least serve Kangaroo! Have you had that yet ChiO? I'd like to try it sometime; my understanding is that you can get it in grocery stores in OZ.

They most certainly do drink Four X here in Qld! There's actually a joke about it's name I love to share. How did XXXX get it's name? If you ask someone from Queensland, the best rating for beer was XXX and this was so much better they had to add another X to it's rating. If you ask someone from New South Wales - it's because no one in Qld knew how to spell beer! Our Queensland Rugby team is actually the XXXX Maroons. New South Wales is the VB (Victoria Bitter) Blues.



I still eat with my fork forward! I'm too old to change on that, but the boys haven't picked it up either.

Vegemite is good, but a little bit is all you need! I don't eat it often, my coworker has a cracker with Vegemite and cheese every day in his lunch.

I do love the Tim Tams!! I currently have about 12 packs sitting here ready to go home with us in June. All the family that has visited loves them and have requested their favorite flavors

I have tried the kangaroo, it's very rich! They do sell it in the grocery which really disturbed me at first, the sausages (or snags as they call them here) are actually called Kanga Banga's. One of the kids insisted we try it, just steaks, they all liked it.

They are just brutal to each other (verbally at least), most curse like sailors, and their slang is inventive and hilarious (Kanga Banga's is spot on; I can hear my Aussie colleagues say that...). My favorite Aussie swear word? f*cknuckle, as in "Some f*cknuckle nipped it up too tight and now it's completely rooted..."

Still waiting patiently for the day that I'm told I'm making a business trip down to Adelaide,SA...

We love the humor and sarcasm here! I've learned to use several of the standards - when you bitch someone out you're "getting up 'em" When there's nothing it's "bugger all" or really nothing is "f*%&^ all" As in we got bugger all rain during that storm. When somethings broken it's "buggerd"

I also love to say "fanny pack" because it's a seriously dirty saying here. One of my co-workers has a fanny pack he uses sometimes to carry all the bits we need for inspections. They call it a bum bag, but I always have to talk about his fanny pack just to see the reactions

I haven't heard that one. I have learned that when something is really remote (like BFE) it' Out Woopwoop. I'll have to listen for gaffa! I still have moments where I have to stop and ask for clarification!
