For your information, my BEST FRIEND is black. He is my next door neighbor. I asked him to read this thread, and he is laughing his *ss off about your racist charges. Don't get your panties in a wad because I confused Thomas with another Cat player who was kicked off a PAC 10 team for criminal activities, then signed by Kramer. I see that no one has given me his name.

You're barking up the wrong tree with this racist tag.. I suggest you have one of your black friends (do you have any) read my remarks and tell you if he thinks calling blacks brothas is racist. Perhaps you'll be enlightened.

Now, may we DROP this subject. Give it a rest already. Get some enculturation into that big world out there when you get a chance too.
I didn't say calling him brother was racist, but it is pointing out the fact that he is black, which I felt was unnecessary.

"You dudes are so paranoid about "offending" the black race by use of the very words they use everyday."
If you feel that way, go ahead and drop the N word on one. I bet you will get some lovely responses.

Fact - you made race an issue. Does it make you racist? Who knows, nobody here knows you or your neighbor. But you did make it a point that everyone know he is black.

I also find it highly unlikely you would call Jared Allen a gangsta thug.

Yea, you sure are right! Up here in Montana we dont see much of them colored folks, hell, we still get around in our covered wagons. Like I have said before Wolf, you are an idiot. I have black friends (in Montana can you beleive it?)_and not once has any one of them come up to me and said "Hey man, I want you to call me brotha." If you are not racist, how did you come your conclusions about Joey that were not based on any facts? Was it his name? No that sounds white enough. This is the last time I will address you as you are not worth my time.

P.S. Say hi to your imaginary friend.

Then don't post again to me M77Cat. I don't think you have anything to say anyway. Say hello to your brotha friends for me.

The "N" word is a derogatory reference. "Brotha" and "Sista" is NOT. Get a clue if you're going to post about things you obviously know nothing about.

All of you are blowing this thing WAAAAY out of proportion. There was no racist comment intended, nor made by me. As I said, if you were as racist as me, we would have no racial problems in this country.

I would not refer to Jared Allen as a brotha, because he is not black. If he were black, I would have absolutely no problem in referring to him as a brotha, because that is what he is, and that is what he would refer to himself in any discussion, if he were black.

To make it simple for people who obviously need me to make it simple, when my black buddy is talking to me about two people, one white, and one black, and he wants to identify which one he is referring to, he will either say, "i'm talking about the white dude", or, he will say "i'm talking about the brotha". If you have difficulty understanding this, then, as I said previously, you really need to get out of Montana more often.

I'm now finished disacussing this topic. I have made it very clear where I stand, and will make no apologies, when none are needed. It's clear some of you would have trouble existing in a multi-ethnic society like we have in Vegas, without walking around like a deer in the headlights.

BAC,

Weren't you the one who previously told me about the old "I've got plenty of black friends so I can't be a racist" defense?

In wolf's case, I'm not going to confirm nor deny his claim; what I will do is state how easy it is for him to ASSUME that most of us here have little/no experience with a multi-cultural environment. It's typical given his M.O., of course, but what do we expect from a guy whose overall message is that none of the rest of us could possibly know all that he knows nor have experienced all that he has in the grand adventure of his life.

Personally, I'm very much looking forward to the movie...

Dodge, weave, evade, deny, deny, deny.

Answer the question, Wolfman, don't answer a charge that was never made. He said nothing about "brotha" and Jared Allen (which I frankly had no problem with that term on its face, only the fact that Joey's race was even part of the conversation because you made it part of the conversation).

He asked if you would have called Jared Allen a "gangsta thug," which is a very derogatory term, and one that you applied to Joey, when it is obvious that you don't know a single thing about Joey (except, of course, that he is black ... you seem to have been able to capture that info quite well and then use it and it alone to suggest that he's this terrible person using all of these "worldly" references that anyone who watches TV at all could pick up in about ten seconds).

Sigh, if only all of us could be as "down wid it" as Wolfman. Then all of our imaginary black best friends could laugh with us when we make derogatory racist suggestions about somebody that we know nothing about. That way, we could pretend like we had nothing to apologize for.

I'm moving all of these posts to the smack board. They don't deserve to be on the main board.

I've probably mentioned it as being one of the oldest lines in the book, yeah (although I don't remember the specific conversation that we discussed it, though). It's the cliche "Some of my best friends are [xxxx]."

wolf- you may not have intended to sound racsist. all i'm saying, is what color a dude is has no value in what you were trying to say. that is why it comes across as rascist. if you would have just said that fans kiss the asses of players of their favorite team, and think that they can do no wrong, then i think many of us would, or at least could agree with you. but you are the one who said that you are so cick of us defending thise black guys who get into trouble. so first, you were wrong because joey was never in trouble. cocky? probably! but not a troublemaker. and his skin color means nothing, and i just couldn't see why you included it. when was the last time that anyone read a post where the author talked about how sick he was of the ****** that the "white kids" were getting away with? i bet never. i challenge anyone to find a single post at bobcat nation or egriz where a fan or athlete is classified by their white color. and wolfs post that singled out the "black kid" may be the first of this classification. because of this, it SOUNDS rascist. i'm not saying that you are, but i hope that you can see how so many people could take it.

Look, I was going to drop this discussion, because it has been blown way out of proportion. But, I resent the know-it-all Bay Area Scat telling me about my imaginary black friends, when he doesn't even know me. BAC, you can kiss my rosey-white *ss!.

WhiteTrash, YOU are the one making my posts a black/white thing. Where do you get this crapola about the term "gansta-thug" being a "black racist comment". Once again, this shows how naive some of dudes are. Gangsta thugs have no clor requirements. Give up your lame argument. All of you are playing the race card because you're pissed that i called the Thomas issue as it is. Isn't it intersting that the same things I have said about Thomas on this boaed are being said about him in a thread on esugar.com, but nobody is whing about the race thing.

Your true motives are apparent and thinly-veiled.

i try not to post, but i cant get over how stupid you are. i cant speak for anyone else, but i am very diversified. read over your posts man. you sound like a complete idiot. how 'bout the one where you said in case we didn't know, brotha is what black people LIKE TO BE CALLED! do you really not see how ignorant that sounds. i assume by you comments that you LIKE TO BE CALLED a moron. guess that means that ALL white people like to be called morons right? as long as you keep classifying people by their color, it is you need to be more knowledgable on diversity. i can keep this thread going forever because i have your own words to go off. i'm not making things up man. you sound like an ass.

It is racist to a black man. If a white guy calls a black guy anything but african american, we get chastized to no end. Everything a white guy says is racist. You see it in the paper, on the news, and on the radio. Thanks to Jessie Jackson, among many others, our freedom of speech means very little anymore.

Longhorn, I totally agree with you. And, my black friends agree with you too. Do you think that all black people feel that every little thing that is done or said by a white person which effects a black person is racist in nature?

Many black people are insulted by the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who claim to represent the black masses, but are caught with their fingers in the till profiting financially from their agenda. My black friends admire Condolesa Rice, Colin Powell, and other educated and successful leaders in our society. They admire black people who do not use the race card to explain everything which happens to them in their lives.

The black people I hang out with are educated executives, and we often discuss these very topics which are being thrown around in this thread.

Call me an idiot, call me any names you want which will make you feel better about yourselves. Just understand that you are clueless about what you speak. No black person I know would have a problem whatsoever in me referring to them as a "brotha". If you do not have the social awareness to understand this fact, then shut your self-righteous big mouths and quit judging an individual who has grown up with black people his entire life, and who continues to count many black people among his group of friends. You come across like many white people I know, who try to be so hard to be socially correct around black folks that you stumble all over yourselves worrying whether you're saying the accptible thing. All my black friends expect is to be treated the same as any other person I know. I don't have to walk on egg shells around them, because they know I am not racist. Keep living like deer in the headlights around people of different ethnic backgrounds like most white people. As for me, I feel very comfortable with my social conciousness.

Can we now drop this topic and move on?

all im saying is that im surprised that you know that all black people like to be called brotha. and black women like to be called sista. i know many blacks and i'm sure that they wouldn't mind if i called them this, as your friends dont. but i also think that they wouldn't mind if i called them by their name. and i haven't ran into that guy yet, that you talked to, that said all blacks like to be called brotha and sista instead of their name. when i hear from him, i'l stop calling them joey, and johnny, and mike and sam, and call them brotha 'cause i'll see how offended they are with me calling them by thier names. go cats!
