Too bad for Joey. This reminded me of another thread on BCN:

Different situation, but the same sentiment.

So with Thomas and Cooper both being cut, what ex-Bobcats are currently playing on an NFL team?

I bet Thomas is picked up off of waivers and if not, then signed immediately by someone else. He will be playing in the NFL again. I will be SHOCKED if he is not.

don't know about quickness, gtapp, but Joey has all the wheels necessary. He's legit sub-4.4, and that gets it done.

Joey can't tackle. That's one thing. Otherwise, I agree, Sherman's an idiot. Unfortunately for me, since I loathe the Packers, he'll probably get canned at the end of the year. My only hope, then, will be that BH gets the job!

I saw the Pack vs. Cleveland game and when Edwards went by Joey it was as if Joey was standing still. Even the Packers safety blew by Joey chasing Edwards.

That is true. Didn't look like he put in much effort on that one. But if you check the MSU football lifting records etc. Thomas has the fastest timed 40 @ 4.38.

Why is it that, everytime a player from either UM (Dickinson) or MSU (Thomas) gets cut by the NFL, they were "never given a fair chance". What a crock of B.S.

Do you think that NFL coaches give a flyin' f_ck about where a player went to college? They only care about the performance on the field. I get tired of hearing the Griz fans whine about DD not being given a "fair chance". Hell, he was with 3-4 different NFL teams. Are they all that stupid? DD is a good CFL QB. That's it!

NFL teams don't cut players who are good enough to play at that level. Both the UM and MSU fans should stop whining about their boys not given a fair chance.

Amen brutha! By the way, can you believe that the 49ers signed Jesse "freakin" Palmer and not Dickenson or Ochs!

Of all of the players who got a shot in the NFL these last few years I thought Cooper had the best chance to make a team. He seemed to have so much talent but he has not come close to making a roster.

I hear what you are saying Wolf but in this case I think the beef we have is that Thomas was not given the same opportunities as Ahmad Carroll at Green Bay. I watched a lot of Packer games the past 2 seasons and Joey did not take advantage of what chances he had but Carroll sucked even worse and has gotten a lot more time on the field and they haven't cut him. I think that is the beef. I think there was a lot more happening behind the scenes than we ever saw.

Also, there is a hell of lot more to justify getting rid of your first round draft pick than your third. Its all about politics. This might be the best thing considering Green Bay is a fast sinking ship. Hopefully Joey will get picked up soon.

Here is another story. I admire Joey's responses and how he handled this. I liked Sherman's comments about not accepting responsibility. What has he accepted being largely responsible for the recent demise of the Packers? I wonder if his comments will be as classy as Joey's when he gets the axe later this season?

My post had nothing to do with Thomas's ability, nor DD's ability. It was directed at the constant whining by both UM and Cat fans about their boys being treated unfairly by NFL coaches. Jeeeez!

On the Milwaukee news last night, they talked about Joey getting cut. And Sherman leaving a press conference. You can tell Sherman knows his days are numbered.

They also showed a clip of an assistant coach getting in Joey's face and really chewing him out. They said that he showed up for practice yesterday and they told him not to dress for practice and that the coaches wanted to meet with Joey "upstairs" and that is when he found out he had been cut.

I live in Wisconsin and now I have no reason to root for the Packers....

Interesting at the very end of the article, they mentioned Jeremy Thornburg might replace him, an NAU product.
