MSU Athletics dropped the ball

Post by Blue and Gold » Thu Nov 03, 2005 10:54 am

Far from a sell-out and are we hearing of any creative ways to promote attendance? I have not. We sell out this game and we have a sold out season. This helps us get home playoff games, helps us recruit players, expand the stadium......Sure enough reasons to get out there and move 1000 tickets.

Unbelievable.

Okay, by my last two posts, you can see I have had my coffee.

Yeah, I dont see how athletics dropped the ball on this one. If this game wasnt on TV it would help.

It's also Thursday. Still time to get tickets. There are always a ton of walkups and still people who just haven't gotten on the ball yet.

I'm telling you, it was the coffee.

What I meant to say was that I have seen any ticket promotions for this weekend's game

Prior to the last two games 500-800 tickets were available on Monday...we are 1200 tickets away from a sell out two days prior to the game.

Why not get out there with some creative ticket sales ideas. Lower the prices, family packages, kids get in free...something!

They have dropped the ball by not aggresively trying to sell this game out.

We need to sell out the game.....for much more important reasons then ticket revenue, as listed in the original post.

It's also Ag Appreciation and Armed Forces appreciation. I'd say they're making a big push to sell out the game...

I agree with that-there should be some sort of special promotion. It seems to me that attendance has always lagged a bit around this time of year-the cool weather forcast probably isn't helping and maybe the noon kickoff doesn't help either?

I am sorry but most of the Faculty couldn't care less about the game. Yes there are some who care but most of them are fair weather fans at best. I hope I am wrong the the faculty packs the house this weekend. Prove me wrong please.

They could have a "get a home first round playoff game" promotion, where people who show their ticket to this game, get a discout off of a home playoff game ticket.

I asked Peter Fields about fly overs befor the season started. He told me we would have several fly overs this year. I have been at every game and other than some small private crafts I have seen none. I do not know what happened. Peter can you tell us?

Ummm??? Just shy of sellout isn't bad. Your point of view is like making fun of your friend for hooking up with the hot chick that wasn't quite as hot as the chick that wanted you in his eyes.

Dumb comparison... as was yours. Get my point???

Heard Attebury say this morning on the radio that with under 1000 tickets remaining anyone who bought tickets today or tomorrow would be entered into a drawing for 4 Cat/Griz tickets also. Not a bad little promotion, at least they are trying to do something.

I heard Dean Alexander mention on this afternoon's Sports Nuts that if anyone doesn't have tickets for the Cat-Griz game, this is their last chance to see Travis Lulay at home during the regular season. That alone should help, but 42 degrees might not.

Ok I am sick of this, we all live in Bozeman MT, not Florida it will be cold, it is supposted to be cold, anyone who bitches about 42 degrees in november in montana needs to go back to what every palm tree that they crawled out from under. We are Montana's we are born hard. It was negative 3 degrees last time the griz game was here I didn't hear anyone complaining, and that was one of the greatest atmosphere's I have ever watched a sporting event in. bozbobcat I am not calling you out, I know you will be there, I am calling out the sally's.

I'll admit that that was one of the most fun games I've ever seen. It was actually the first time that I'd seen the Cats beat the Griz in person. I just mentioned the temperature because I know it's a factor in attendance. Some older people might not go because it hurts them too much to be exposed to the cold for long periods of time. And a lot of Bozeman people weren't from around here originally. For that Cat-Griz game, I dressed in 6 layers top and bottom and I was fine. So all I can say is dress in layers and you'll be fine. I don't think that my statement here is complaining.

Edit: Thanks Bulldog. I understand that you're not calling me out and I will be there tomorrow, bundled up and in full force!

GOOSEBUMPS! Not from thinking about the weather, but thinking about that game. The first play Corey takes back the kick and Bobcat Stadium didn't stop rocking all day. It was the first time I got to see the Cats beat the Griz in person as well. I dressed in layers and drank alot of "Hot Chocolate" which kept me warm all game. Here's to me seeing the Cats victorious in person for the second time!
