I agree...how many timesw did Dominek fumble last year and he still played. Groves takes a few read steps and then hits the hole at full speed!grizsuck24 wrote:did everyone forget about groves, I know he messed up sat. but it was the best run of the game on his first carry and he played very well the week before.

The more game carries that Groves gets the more relaxed he will be, which means he can focus on covering up the ball, and if he does fumble give him the ball again, give him a chance to get his confidence back not tear it down completely.grizsuck24 wrote:did everyone forget about groves, I know he messed up sat. but it was the best run of the game on his first carry and he played very well the week before.

From a little insider within the team, to my understanding Groves is unfamiliar with the offense and doesn't seem to understand much of the play calling. I would feel more comfortable with Domineck than anybody. We just aren't a running team and thats that. So we might as well put the best pass blocking and pass catching back in the game. We can always mix it up if we need to.

If this is indeed the case that is too bad as he could really help us this year. If it is true though then I can understand why he isn't in there then. It is just fun to watch him as he is going to be a pretty darn good RB before he is done at MSU though I think.thuss wrote:From a little insider within the team, to my understanding Groves is unfamiliar with the offense and doesn't seem to understand much of the play calling. That is great then. This is his chance to show what he can do. If he isn't up on the offense yet, they need to get him into the game in stretches and share time with Domineck etc. He can learn/gain confidence little by little. Plus, that way we will have 2 fresh backs.bobcatbob wrote:Kramer said this morning that Groves will probably start on Sat. but we will probably only run the ball about 8 times total!
Just remember to wrap up on the ROCK Evan/Justin!

It has become painfully clear that running the ball won't be sucessful this year. So why not give our future 3 year starter some gametime this year? He can't possibly be any worse. No offense to JD or Bass, it isn't their fault the running game hasn't worked.

celt and some of you other guys apparently don't read or choose to ignore what the coaching staff has said several times...they are going to pass the ball the rest of the year...kramer has said that in print...so i guess all i can tell you is that you are probably going to be frustrated for the rest of the season...i don't mean to be harsh here but all you have to do is read the newspaper and you could save some heartburn...running game will not happen this year most likely...i wish we had a quality running game also but it ain't happening...
on another tangent...kramer will come up with another qb...experienced receivers...and probably another quality running back or two...to help out the o next year...gotta trust that the coaching staff knows what they are doing and doing the best with the talent they have....

a news story on the Belgrade Panthers today made me consider another position on this whole topic.
The story was about how the Panthers changed their offense to better utilize their best athletes and give them the best chance to win ball games. Essentially they adopted a wing-t offensive set in order to capitalize on their team speed even though they are undersized when compared against their opponents. So, we know that we have one of the best QB's in Bobcat history at the helm in his senior season. Maybe Kramer and staff are dedicated to developing game plans that take advantage of our greatest weopons.

I'm perfectly aware of what the coaches want the team to do. But the question here is why are we going with the passing game? Because, as I stated, it is obvious the running game is/wasn't working. So why not let Groves get the remainder (very little) of the carries and prepare him for next year?couloir41 wrote:celt and some of you other guys apparently don't read or choose to ignore what the coaching staff has said several times...they are going to pass the ball the rest of the year...kramer has said that in print...so i guess all i can tell you is that you are probably going to be frustrated for the rest of the season...i don't mean to be harsh here but all you have to do is read the newspaper and you could save some heartburn...running game will not happen this year most likely...i wish we had a quality running game also but it ain't happening...

celt...regarding the running game...there are several reasons why but the main reason is that with kramer and bailey you just can't fumble...period...so far this year each of the rbs has fumbled at critical times as i recall...
i believe that they will not focus on the running game until they can develop groves and taito and clear up technique problems that cause fumbles...it is a long process because fumbling is a series of bad habits that are unique to each rb...but they are cureable...
bass and dominic are going to be utilized sparingly because they are too late in their careers to reshape...but they are the most experienced so they will probably get the rock...
if things change we will certainly notice it on game day...

ahhh, ya. Lulay is the leading passer, rusher and punter. That pretty much shows you the game plan.barechestcat wrote:a news story on the Belgrade Panthers today made me consider another position on this whole topic.

Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.

I would bet that Coach Kramer and staff have been working on this. We need to keep our hand covered until we really need it. I would say that you will see some new wrinkles for EWU & the Griz. I hope!barechestcat wrote:a news story on the Belgrade Panthers today made me consider another position on this whole topic.

Now THAT's conviction. Translation: " Coach K if you are listening, please work a wrinkle in for the EWU and UM game, and could you use a running back to do it?"Catz Rock wrote:I would bet that Coach Kramer and staff have been working on this.
