We use ATT. Not the biggest fan but I guess the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.
We have a limit of I believe 175 gb per month. While our Son-in-Law is waiting for a Union Pacific RR transfer to Portland or Spokane he and his wife (Daughter) are living with us. Grand-Daughter also is here going to college. They stream lots of NetFlix for the tv series, some movies and the Grand-Daughter streams (I guess) one of the online War games, something like Gears of War. They are streaming the minimum 780 and 1080 when available. I have no idea if Gears of War streams the same.....There were two months we received a warning that we were close and last month we went over the limit. During football I watched a couple of games on BigSkyTV.....
Is there a recommended program that I came download to monitor usage? I heard that there is a wwdrt and tomato that are monitoring programs. Any feedback on these or others.....
Question: how to monitor internet/gb usage.

Are you talking the internet with a router, or is this a cell phone connection.RickRund wrote:We use ATT. Not the biggest fan but I guess the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.

Re: Question: how to monitor internet/gb usage.
A lot of routers have a internet traffic monitor built into them that you can turn on, I know mine does. Try going to the web interface for your router by typing the router IP address into your browser and poke around in the different options to see if yours already has this capability that you can turn on and use. The programs you reference are essentially modified firmwares that you must install to your router. Unless you are very computer savvy and know what you are doing I wouldn't recommend this route but if you do make sure you really read up on it. I'm not even sure if a 2Wire router would be supported by either.
There really aren't that many other options that you could have aside from your router supporting it (or making it support it with custom firmware) is to run your own proxy that all traffic would have to be routed through. Again, this would be a pretty technically inclined and not sure where you would fall on that.
Have you tried logging into your account with AT&T? Many ISP's will give you a data usage meter that you can view to see how much that you have used.

Just be happy with your internet provider. No matter what it is. Be happy with it!!!! It's better than some have.
