PSU is beatable, but I'm more worried about the Cats than I am PSU.

I wouldn't say that. Lulay is a great player and is having another great year but the Griz seemed to handle him quite well last year! Can't wait until this years match up!

You're right, he only passed for 386 yards against UM last year. You guys really bottled him up.
And how did that work out for you?
Before you get too cocky, remember that your coming to our house this year!

The answer is No.

Why

1: 2nd week in a row on the road. Always tuff
2: Cats cant stop the run and if you don't force PSU to pass they will win
3: They won't pass (like stupid Weber) so they control the clock and limit the cats one weapon
4: You don't win this many close games without it catching up to you
5: The BSC is a mess no one is going to run away with it.
6: The Cat Wideouts drop to many passes
7: Kramer needs to go on a diet.
8: Cat logic (Boise state is way better than OSU so PSU should win this one)

Never mistake activity for accomplishment.

Totally agree 100% with this statement. I still think the only team MSU can lose to is MSU.

On another, related topic. Anyone else in here getting sick and tired of idiotic friz fans clogging up our board with weak attempts at smack? Moderators?

Reasons why the Griz will loss to EWU.

1. 2nd ranked team in a row will be too much for Griz D
2. Griz can't stop the pass, EWU will not have to run to win.
3. Again, they won't run because they will beat you with the pass.
4. You don't win this many close games without it catching up to you.
5. The BSC is a mess, no one will run away with it.
6. The Griz wideouts haven't caught enough passes this year. (lack of experience)
7. Hauck is too skinny and needs to eat.
8. Griz logic (Oregon is way better than Sac State so the Griz should win this one)

very tired of the smack. I am, as of now, going to be a griz smack awareness advocate (I'm telling on you).

As to the PSU game,
I know the 'Cats CAN win. There has been quite a bit of good comment on this already as to what has to happen. If we clean it up, get motivated on the road, stop the run, raise our play to our qb's level, we will win.

In a little tissy

No smack in that one...well maybe 7 and 8. (more a joke then smack IMHO) but solid football talk 1 to 6 Yes?

Come on Kramer fat jokes are funny haven't you seen him on the side line this year.

You're just reaching on the Griz stuff. Give me 6 football reasons the Griz won't win against EWU. I'll even spot you #1

1: Meyers should be able to get his yards against the Griz D.

We can absolutely beat PSU if we play a good game. They like to run, we give up yards but not that many points. Even with Cal Poly we lost because they capitalized on our mistakes. If they gain 200 yards but only 150 passing, I think we still win. Look at their stats last night. Boise had twice the time of possession and way more yards but needed to come from behind because of mistakes. If we eliminate the turnovers it will not be close.

Who is this Meyers guy? Never heard of him. Oh.......you meant Erik Meyer. But, as always, accuracy is not the hallmark of your posts.

Jag,
your last post didn't get my panties in a bunch. I can take a little good natured ribbing when it's mixed in with actual football diagnostics (whether I agree with them or not)

I am so tired of reading these negative posts about the cats coming from cat fans! What the hell is wrong with you people? Yeah, the cats have many many areas to work on and improve upon, but give them a little credit! We are ranked 11th in the country, soon to be top 10 (first time since 1984 i believe), we are 2-0 in the big sky, we have not been playing even close to our potential and we are still winning games against VERY VERY good teams. Can we beat PSU? HELL YEAH we can beat PSU! GO CATS!

I think the Cats CAN win versus PSU. But, they must contain the PSU running game, and they must not turn the ball over. PSU has the ability to control the ball (and the clock) by running and running some more. If the Cats allow their defense to stay on the field too much in the first half, then I think PSU will wear them out in the second half with the running game.

So, I think MSU needs to have some long drives in the first half, and be leading at half time. If the Cats have to play catch-up in the second half, they'll be in trouble.

The Griz will get their *sses handed to them by EWU this week. I say EWU by 14 or more. Meyer is too good, and the Griz will not score that many points.

Jag,

My football analysis for the Griz/EWU game is this: The Griz D is great versus the run, great at creating turnovers, and terrible versus the pass at this point in the season. Two weeks ago, they gave up 373 passing yards to a team that was averaging 200. This Saturday, they face an Eagles O that is averaging 347 yards/game through the air.

Despite the Griz performance against ISU, I simply don't think your O can keep up with Meyer & Kimble; I expect they will get close to 500 against the Griz on the fast track in Missoula.

IMO, the Griz have 2 chances to win: If the weather is bad (wet/cold/windy), forcing both teams to the ground, and/or 4+ turnovers by EWU (like their game vs ISU) which give the Griz good field position. If the Griz win the turnover battle by 3 or more, they WILL win.

Since the long-range forecast says 60 and dry, I'm going to pick EWU 35, Griz 28.

Grizzlies: 2-5 when it matters most

It must kill you when we win.

I have to agree though this time. If PSU has to play catch up and it turns into a shootout there will be no competition. The problem is MSU has yet to prove they can stop the run just like the Griz have yet to prove they can stop the pass. Along with that, PSU proved they can slow down a high powered offense in BSU. If it's a low scoring game and close and PSU has the ball in the 4th, Lulay might not get the chance to make a come back.
I think we might be in trouble this weekend. I'm happy with Cole but if it turns to a shoot out I don't know if we can keep up with Meyer and company and we have yet to prove we can stop the pass. We need turnovers and a monsoon.

If Gatewood doesn't drop those two passes both would have been touchdowns. The Weber game would not have been that close (score wise). We won't be able to stop Rubin, but the Cats D can contain him enough to win this game. Yes, the D has been giving up a ton of yards on the ground between the 20's, but if you look, they haven't really given up very many huge plays. They have forced a lot of field goal tries this year. Rubin will get his yards, Lulay, Gatewood and Murray will have big games with the short passing game. Dominick will get some yards late in the game and Cats win by 10.

GO CATS!!

Hell yes, they can win in Portland. The Cats did exactly what Coach said they were going to do against Weber on a wet field and sure, some of the time things didn't look too pretty. Our opening drive where we went the length of the field and came up empty was disappointing, as were the other half a dozen times we were inside their twenty with no points to show for it, but I still like that W  We are a physical, hard hitting group in a touch football conference and it hurts our kids when they play in a real football venue such as Stillwater where the officials let the kids play the game and come out of there with only five or six penalties the entire game and then have to play with Big Sky officials.

Don't like to compare what Weber did against the Fizzlies with us and how they did against ISU--but we sure helped the Fizzlies by physically beating the hell out of ISU the week before. Weber is better than we give them credit for and I think we'll do better in Portland than we've done in years past. I'd be perfectly happy letting it come down to the last drive again

THANK GOD!

I was worried 'til Wolfie weighed in.
Now I feel much better, as he has been consistently wrong for 2&1/2 years.

#2) MAIN KEY OF THIS GAME. We need to get a lead and make them catch up throwing the ball. We cannot shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties/dropped balls this game as they will be chewing up clock running the ball. We really need to score on our possesions this week as we will not have as many attempts unless we can STUFF THE RUN. We might have a few wrinkles this week too regarding the bend/don't break philosophy.

#4) You win every close game with Lulay ... PERIOD :)
