Another 2001 Grizzly Dies
A couple years ago, Tim Bush died. He was on the 2001 National Championship team. Curt Colter was also on that team, and he died today.
I got to spend some time with Curt through some mutual friends in Missoula when we were both in college. I wouldn't say we were close friends, but we always enjoyed drinking beer together when I was in town. He really was a good guy, and from what I remember, a pretty good player.
It reminds me how silly we make the Cat/Griz rivalry sometimes. I love the rivalry because I've known guys who played for both teams. I can be a prick to them about a game, but when it's all said and done, some of those former Grizzlies are great friends. Some of their fans are idiots, and so are quite a few Bobcat fans. I see them on this board daily. If you don't recognize them, you're probably one of them. But even the biggest morons (hopefully) truly feel sad for Curt and his family, and come back down to earth and remember it's just a game. I need that reminder sometimes too.
RIP Curt.

Re: Another 2001 Grizzly Dies
I met DJ and Curt the weekend they were inducted into the Hall of Champions. (I think it was the weekend we played Liberty)
Both were great guys and we enjoyed having them at our tailgate, it sucks when people like those guys have bad things happen to them. They are all in my prayers and I hope everything works out for their family.
I totally agree with you on the idiots from both sides that cant be cordial and deal with people like human beings, its just a game for christ sake. Hell I am even nice to RTB, KMAX and BAC when I see them and they have never been anything less than awesome to me...............of course I am sure BAC talks about me behind my back and warns his kid to never ever be like that guy.
But really can you blame him?
I appreciate the way they treat me when they are hosting a tailgate party in Bozeman and I hope they feel the same way when they come to ours in Missoula. Anyone one of the Griz fans that would ever treat them bad around me would have a problem on their hands in real short order.
Its just a game...........and its like I tell all my youth football kids that I coach.............if the worst thing to happen to you in life is that you lose a football game.....your gonna have a pretty damn good/blessed life.

Horrible news. My condolences to the family, friends, and the entire UM community. Much too young to pass. Just very sad. Another all-star selected to play for Heaven's team...
Retiring my moniker. It's time to ride off into the sunset. It's been a fun ride. Go Cats.

Re: Another 2001 Grizzly Dies
with cat griz in a few weeks there is definitely an opportunity there. just like the food drive that is always a success. be nice to see cat and griz fans unite for a cause. i'd definitely donate to the cause if someone takes the reigns on this one. sorry to be "that guy" but i'm just swamped right now.LTown Cat wrote:Anything we can do for his wife and young child?AlphaGriz1 wrote:Last night I sent an email to DJ Coulter offering him and his family my condolences. Re: Another 2001 Grizzly Dies
DJ is the coordinator for the Cat/Griz party in Fargo and we've had a great time exchanging jibes over the past several years. What a terrible loss for him and his family.
