Gato's grisly Grizzly forecast for October...
I'm predicting the almighty Griz will drop at least 3 of their final 4 games in October, maybe even ALL 4.
They go to ISU next week (which I WILL predict a Griz loss), then they have 3 very difficult games, although fortunately for them, they're all at home, which I feel will give them a chance to win one. First they get Cal Poly, who I'd pick as at least a 7 point favorite if they played now, then they get Eastern, who I'd say would be a 10 point favorite over them today (yesterday, Pizzaro beat his previous best passing day BY 130 YARDS as Weber racked up almost 500 total vs "the Big Sky's best D"), and then PSU comes to town on the 29th, and at this point, I'd give the Griz the nod in that one by a couple points.
The bottom line here is that "the genius", Bobby Hauck, has recruited and created what is going to undoubtedly be the WORST Griz offense in more than 13 years. After Pizzaro & WSU's offensive success yesterday, can you IMAGINE what Meyer, Cole, and Kimble will do to them? 500 yards? Easy, if yesterday was any indication; maybe even 600+.
Cal Poly may not beat them as bad as they did us, because it's in WaGriz and Cal Poly's "mindset" might hurt them; but they will "out-athlete" the Griz and should beat them convincingly.
ISU? After the action I witnessed yesterday (both the Cat game & the Griz/WSU game), ISU WILL dominate the Griz and win by 10+; I will be STUNNED if ISU doesn't beat the Griz next week.
Go ahead, griz fans; tell me SPECIFICALLY why I'm wrong and why the Griz will be better than 4-4 by Halloween.
Can you imagine the scene in Missoula if that happens? Bobby will have to go into some kind of "coaches protection program" when they lose the next 3; they'll be moving him to secret locations all over Missoula to ensure his safety from the "best fans in I-AA football" if they drop 3 straight; and I won't be surprised if they do.

I totally agree with the dire predictions. I work with a great lady who has a son playing for the Griz. She has been to every game, but has complained since late summer that they are not in the class of the Cats. I look forward to this month proving her right.

Gato, I don't see anything wrong with your predictions. As a Griz fan, the future looks bleak for them this season. They have a QB who has no game experience, recrivers who can't get open and can't catch the rock when they do, and an O-line who has not been able to protect the QB. Their lone hope is Hilliard, and no single player can carry a team.
Their defense, the eternal hope of all Griz fans, has proven to be very vulnerable to the pass, just like last season.
My prediction for the ISU game is:
ISU 27
Griz 13

I knew there'd be at least 1 griz fan who'd agree with me.
I will be absolutely STUNNED if the Griz beat ISU; watching those 2 teams last Saturday, I think the Griz will be the ones stunned by how good ISU is.
ISU will be gunning for Hilliard even more now that JW is out so Berquist will have a chance to throw the ball; what will Hauck say if Cole ends up having a good/great day and the Griz pull the upset?
I think following Bobby, Gurnsey, and egriz may be VERY entertaining this October...

judging from what i saw from the ISU game their passing game is way overrated. Of course their o killed our d but i will cover why in a different post, lets just say that the d cooridnator does not know how to run a 3-4.
1) Idaho State is going to win
2) i doubt there is going to be 21 points scored...combined. The griz d is still fresh enough to play up to par. My concern tho is that they allowed IAN PIZARRO of all qb's to have a good game against them via the deep passing game *enter shaq okabor and Akili (sp??) lacy and hb's fav. bengal hunter rodregez

3) Cole burgest scares me only because i know how well TL played before he was named starter and let us say he didn't play well...
4) HB officially is starting the "lets can Hauck and Baily" campaign here on bobcat nation!!!

I know i'll be stunned if they do!
Don't get me started on Bobby Hauck. Hiring him was the most stupid thing the Griz have ever done. Thanks alot, Hogan! You hire some guy who never played college football, was never even a coordinator at any level, and whose only claim to fame was special teams coach, which is the lowest coach on the totem pole. Nice get for the premier IAA football program in the nation.
I'll bet Bobby thought he'd hit the lottery when he got that job! I think somebody once wrote a book about this hire "Against All Odds"

Re: Gato's grisly Grizzly forecast for October...
OK we're 4-1 now, so we'd have to lose 3 home games in a row for Gato to be correct in his prediction. We've got EWU/Cal Poly/PSUEl_Gato wrote: Go ahead, griz fans; tell me SPECIFICALLY why I'm wrong and why the Griz will be better than 4-4 by Halloween.
I see us beating PSU, especially in Wa. Griz.
EWU is a total toss-up. ISU beat them with special teams and running, if the Griz control the clock and keep EWU's O off the field as much as possible. If that happens I see the Griz winning along the lines of 34-27 or some moderatley higher score like that.
Cal Poly I have no clue...I haven't researched them very much but they do seem to put a hurt on almost all of their opponents and play rock solid defense. Based on what I've seen in the box scores I would expect the Griz to lose to Cal Poly.
My prediction is we're 6-2 going into Nov. The "X factor" for this tough stretch of games is the home field advantage, which probably helped push the Griz into the NC last year.
Going into Nov. we go to Suc St and NAU, games we should win. Although Bobby tends to not have the team as prepared for the "easier games." I'd consider Suc and NAU wins, much like MSU fans probably do as well. Our final game is @ MSU, and the way Lulay plays I would be as stunned as El Gato is right now (Since the Griz kicked ISU's ASS!!!) if the Griz won in Bozone.
So that would put the Griz at 8-3 with 1 loss in the conference, which would probably result in a co-champ with MSU and possibly EWU as well.
That said, the Griz could very easily have the big letdown after todays game and lose in an embarassing fashion this coming week which would throw my entire guess for the rest of the season out the window.
GO GRIZ!!!

Re,Re/Max Griz wrote:EWU is a total toss-up. ISU beat them with special teams and running...
The FACT is that ISU DIDN'T beat EWU; Eastern beat Eastern in that game. 5 scoring drives of less than 40 yards will make it very hard to lose and that's what ISU had.
The Griz manhandled ISU yesterday because your D is solid against the run and ISU is primarily a running team. Meyer, Kimble, and Co., however, will no doubt be watching the Weber/Griz tapes very intently; I'm STILL going to pick EWU based solely on the fact that the Eagles passing attack is VASTLY superior to Weber's, yet Pizzaro had his best day ever vs the Griz pass rush/secondary. You may make Easterns run game a non-factor, but I don't think it will bother them to throw 50+ times.
The "X" factor will indeed be Eastern's D; can/will they get enough stops to allow Eastern to get/hold a lead?
Even after yesterday's impressive performance at ISU, I still think Eastern can & will put up 30+ next week and I don't think the Griz will be able to keep up.
IF the Griz beat Eastern, I will state right now that the BSC title is theirs because even a loss to the Bobcats will give them a share at worst.

October will be very good for the Griz. I see us winning at least two of the next three, and very possible all three. If we get through the next three, it would not surprise me to see us run the table.El_Gato wrote:I'm predicting the almighty Griz will drop at least 3 of their final 4 games in October, maybe even ALL 4.

How is it you know Cal Polys mind set? Your quote “Cal Poly's "mindset" might hurt them" show you can look well into the future and know what and how this team is thinking. I have got to sign up for that course down in bozo.
What’s your prediction now gato for the rest of the month. The Grizzlies have a 123-16 mark since the stadium opened in 1986, and have a 35-3 home record since the 2001 season. It's pretty obvious we will not lose 3 in a row in Washington-Grizzly Stadium.
