Lulay's INT

Post by DriftCat » Sat Oct 01, 2005 8:57 pm

Just in case anyone thought Lulay made a bad throw on that pick and did not see it.....it was not his fault.....right through Gatewoods hands. Ricky would probably tell you the same. I think that the players all played well, but there were quite a few questionable calls by the coaches. Since when is a ten point lead a bad thing?

Interesting. I will have to see a replay. It happend damn near right in front of me. I thought the ball was thrown high. Granted it probably could have been caught, but I did think Lulay made a poor throw on the run as he rolled out to his right. Wasn't able to give his receiver a good chance to catch it. O'well, Cats still won so no big deal!! Water under the bridge.

GO CATS!!

He threw a ball for a 6'5 guy to a 5'11 guy. :P Looked awful high to me, catchable, but extremely hard to catch.

It happened on the other side of the stadium from where I was sitting. But, I thought it got tipped a little off of Ricky's fingers. The ball was thrown high. But, I thought catchable.

On TV it looked like a wounded duck so it probably caught Gatewood by suprise. Like a catcher expecting the fastball and got the curve.

Lulay let it float, although Gatewood did get fingertips on it, it would not have been possible for him to pull it in. The offense got the look they wanted, linebackers bit hard on play away, and Gatewood ran a slant out and was wide, Lulay over threw him bad.

I dn't know if that was catchable, but Gatewood was definitely interfered with on tht long pass in the 4th qtr. I thought Force(?) should've been called for a late hit on ISU's 4th down pass on their last possession. The officiating was sorry. 74 for ISU blocked a MSU guy into a pile and they call MSU for a PF.

It was a bad throw. Not the WR fault at all. Hell the DB was out of position, and that was the only reason he was there for the INT.

Exactly. I think it either just got away or the wind took it but it wasn't near the receiver's hands. Exactly right on the DB.

Agree, bad throw and it floated. It would have been a 15 yard gain or more as Greatwood would have just had to beat that corner 1 on 1. Corner was giving him 10-13 yard cushion :)

Ill eat crow on this one.....from where I was sitting in the endzone seats it looked to be a catchable ball that went through Gatewoods hands.....but upon further review (watched the throw on TV) it was indeed a bad throw. Sorry Rick.

I could tell by the way Travis reacted after making the tackle that it was a bad throw; he was PISSED at himself.

Headed back to the bench, he ripped his helmet off, yelled something, and then SLAMMED his helmet back on. There's no way he'd have been that demonstrative if Rick should've caught the ball.

He was on the move and the wind was howling, especially on the far side of the field (unprotected by the booster structure), and I'm sure Red was a bit pumped up the way we were playing at that point.

I kept praying that we'd get a 17 point lead because I think ISU would've faded had we gotten up by that much. They certainly wouldn't have been as patient with the running game...
