No offense, and no smack intended, but I will never consider a dome to be any kind of great venue. I don't care if it's the freakin' Superdome, football was meant to be played outdoors. Can you imagine the home-field advantage you guys would have playing games outside in November?WYOBISONMAN wrote:Yes.......for SRO the Fargodome will go over 19,000. It is a hell of a venue.....one of the finest in DI-AA. I hope we get to welcome the Cat faithful to it next year!
I don't doubt that the atmosphere is top-notch, however.

I totall agree with you, there is nothing like outdoor football !! cant wait to take in some fresh mountain air on Saturday. 8 D2 National Championships say we had the advantage in an outdoor stadium, the last coming in 1990, the dome opened in 1992 I believe. You guys are lucky to have no roof. The atmosphere has gotten better in the dome, but since moving inside, some seem to think it is just a social event, not a football game. Cant wait to experience the rockin atmoshere in Bozeman. Best of Luck Saturday, heres to a great game !!!!

I agree, outdoors is better, but if there was ever a place in America where a dome made sense it's Fargo, North Dakota. I've never been so cold as I was in Fargo-Moorhead. Winters here are tropical by comparison. Their wind has a bite to it I can't even describe.BozoneCat wrote: No offense, and no smack intended, but I will never consider a dome to be any kind of great venue. I remeber having a Chem class at 7:30am winter quarter. I had to walk all the way across campus for the damn thing. Several mornings I would wake up in my dorm room......turn on the Today show.......and hear Willard Scott say, "Good Morning Fargo, ND, you are the nations cold spot with a temperature of 30something below and a windchill of a gazillion below." At that point I would turn the TV off, roll over and sleep in. I managed to eek out a B in that class and never ever ever scheduled a 7:30am class in any winter quarter thereafter!!BelgradeBobcat wrote:I agree, outdoors is better, but if there was ever a place in America where a dome made sense it's Fargo, North Dakota. In our program its listed as 18,900, Im guessing here but I think we had 19,200 as the largest crowd. Thoe Bobcats dont have to worry until 2007 though, thats when they are scheduled in Fargo.
Its going to be great to take the field in front of a sold out house! Go BISON!

Found a link to the 14,000 and portable bleachers thing. Not from the Chronicle, but it is in there.

Kramer said the school is bringing in portable bleachers with hopes of setting an attendance record for an out-of-state opponent. He said more than 14,000 fans are expected at Bobcat Stadium, which normally seats 12,800.

Most people have their mind made up, but its tough to argue that football is better outside. Inside the Fabulous Fargo Dome the weather is perfect, there is no wind and the turf is good. Why should a football game be determined by a wet ball, muddy ground or cold snow and wind?
I dont have any problem playing some games outside, after all its doubtfull everyone will build a domed stadium, but we did and its great!

I love the season in the fall and it is nice to see a VARIETY of games during these early to late fall months (Especially in Bozeman). The ball is made a funny shape for a reason (try and predict the bounce) .. weather just adds more to this. To me, dome football is a lot more STERILE. Its good, don't get me wrong, but just not the same. Especially with freshly cut grass on a 75 degree fall day. Domes are great for Allergy sufferers though
