This is a good thread. I would be very disappointed with a 6-5 or a 7-4 season. The reason I would be disappointed is because KRAMER has us all looking for more. He is the man that said he would show us the money. Well we are still waiting... If we can't do it this year, then when. I will always be a Cat fan. If the Cats lose I am going to show my disgust but I will not stop cheering for them. That doesn't make me "bandwagon fan" it makes me a fan that wants to win. If the Cats go 6-5 or 7-4 w/o a playoff game then coaching changes should be made. Kramer has gotten Montana excited about MSU football, but with that excitement there are expectations and you have to deliver!

I'll ramble on this one.
I am not jumping off the bandwagon. As a life long Cat, I'm happy there is a bandwagon! With our schedule, I decided at the beginning of the season that I'd be ok with 8-3 or even 7-4, assuming we'd win the games we needed, establish any tie breakers we needed, and advance to the playoffs at large or as conference champs. I was hoping if we got that far, we could sneak a playoff victory and maybe make a run. I still believe that is attainable. I will be upset if we have an end like last season, have a 6-5 record, miss the playoffs and/or a loss to the Frizz. But it's more important to me to hit our stride in October and November. We still control our own destiny. Of course I would have liked to see us win Saturday, but perhaps this will be a game we can point to as the rallying cry for the team.
All in all, this program is at a place I haven't seen since I was a little kid. Fan support is way up. Enthusiasm is way up. Talent is way up. The wins will continue. I honestly couldn't be much happier with where the program is. Go Cats, go Kramer.

I guess I would say that Krammer has done so much for MSU that it's unrealistic to expect 10-1 seasons no matter what, remembering we will always play a DIV-1A for money each year. (I know, some will say it doesn't have to be 10-1, but it sounds like that).
Kramer and staff are great recuiters, great for MSU politics, great for ...
How would you upgrade? It's silly to expect (no demand) 8-3 or 9-2 or out.
The original post gets lost and only the title of a thread really remains much. And the title of this thread is "Honest Assesment of the Program and it's Direction" Because of the Cal Poly Lose, the assumption is one Bad lose and it's time to dismiss the coaches.
There will always be a group that say, get rid of the coaches, they have taken us to a new level, but ....
Enjoy the level you are at and build a history of being a stud team. Then it's easy to get higher because even better recuits (both in state and out of state WANT to come here).

Let me reemphasize some key issues in this topic.BobcatLionFan wrote: The original post gets lost and only the title of a thread really remains much. 1. I said IF (IF) we finish 6-5, what are your thoughts? I didn't call for the dismissal of any coaches because we lost to Poly! We lost to Poly last year, and were sitting 6-2 until the last three game slide.
2. Hypothetical, look it up.
3. I am as die-hard as they come. Bobcats are first in every sport at every level. Bobcats, Rams, Suns, Blues, Orioles. Cats are way out in front, and the Rams are way ahead of the Suns. I love the Cats that much.
4. This isn nott a sky is falling thread. This is more of a "has the sky become made of solid steel so that we cannot rise above it" thread.
If anything attribute these sentiments to last year. Losing games to Sac St, EWU and UM in a row had me feeling as low as I have felt as a Cat fan. IF that happens again this year...

The reason(s) for the increased "Frustration" is the same reason(s) for the increased excitement earlier last week. One; the coaches and media have pushed expectations through the roof this year and we are all very eager to buy into that expectation. Two; we new this was the last year for some special offensive players, Bolton and Fig's on the line (both 1st team all conf), quality and depth at RB for the first time (two are seniors), Gatewood, Murray (top four receivers are seniors) at WR and of course number 14 (senior). Many of us realized that this may be the best opportunity in the last 20 years to go deep into the playoffs. And more importantly, many of us feel that it may be the last time for many years because of the difficulty in replacing this level of offensive talent. We hurt more when we lose because we have more to lose this year. This is our shot. Maybe not our last shot but our BEST shot for a long, long time.

I'm a half full guy and hope as we all do that they will come thru.
Also, Krammer has shown great recruiting skills and a good base, so the future may not be as bright as this group, but it's not bad. But that's next year and beyond.
This year they still have a lot of great talent as noted!!
Go Cats!!

Last weekends loss was against a very good team in which we made some costly mistakes. It was only the 3rd game of the season. I'm still feeling very good about this team and I'm sure the coaches and team are tring to iron out the wrinkles this week. Regardless of how you may feel, I doubt if anyone is more disapponted in last weekends performance more than the players. Go 'Cats!!

agreed sir wolf!Wolfman wrote:The poster who pointed out that the Griz were embarrassed by Sam Houston last year, then went to the NC game, is right on the money. Look there are certain games in which everything seems to go bad. Lulay gave up 14 points without Cal Poly having to run a play. That is very difficult to overcome, especially on the road.
It also changes your game plan when you are forced to play catch-up football.
I think that the Cats will still be a formidible team in the chase for the Big Sky Crowne. The Griz are down this year, so the Cats need to take advantage of this fact and play some football. Your big test will be the EWU game. If the Cats can somehow win that game, they will be in the drivers seat.
while i am one that is rather mad at how we got played at SLO, we have to remember that it was only one game, lets withold judgement until after a couple more games, we did beat the tar out of SFA. This is the same croud that is going to jump back onto the bandwagon if we kick NDSU's a@@ this weeekend....how sad

hey he can still line up as a te - or even a fullback...who knows....
