Post Game

Post by MSUcantouchus » Sat Sep 17, 2005 10:13 pm

We were really hurt by the fact that murry was the only reciever to show up tonight. I am looking forward to GATEWOOD being back next game. But wow they have one heck of a Defensive sceme and coach. The flex just squeezed us to death.

Seems Bailey should have an idea what to do against this D since he was there a few years ago!?!? I guess not. Could we leave him there?

One more though. Lets leave CalPoly off the schedual next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really can't describe this game.

Lulay had no time and when he did he had nothing downfield. OLine played awful, running game was OK, receivers didn't have a chance to play well, and Lulay played bad. Defense played ok for awhile then cracked and played bad. Coverage was bad, we got no pressure on their QB (same as SFA), and their running game took over.

The only positive I can think of tonight is that Carpenter was 2-2 for like 50 some yards.

We better rebound from this or NDSU is going to throttle us.

Did Kramer just make a reference to how he hopes we don't play like that in the playoffs?!?! Did he say it with a straight face? Somebody cue the clip of Coach Mota saying, "Playoffs? Playoffs?..."

P.S. - This is a game where we missed Gatewood tremondously (that can't be how that word is spelled, it looks funny). With that good of a defense, we need someone who could strech the field, and no one, especially Lulay himself, stepped up to the plate. Having Gatewood back is going to help us out a lot vs NDSU but it going to take more than just him to come out with a W in this one.

Anyone who thinks Rick Gatewood would have made a huge difference in this game is dreaming. CPSLO's defense throttled our offense. We were just outmatched and outclassed. Their athletes across the board are much better than ours. For example, how many yards rushing did we give up?? Which defense quit in the fourth quarter because they were beaten and demoralized?? The truth hurts but it's fact. We just need to learn from it and move on. We live to fight another champion next Saturday. GO CATS!!

Out coached again.

I mentioned way back that we have all the ingredients to take it all the way and the only thing that could mess it up are the coaches.

Advice for the AD and coach Kramer: Don’t schedule Cal Poly. Plain and simple.

There is only one reason why we looked so bad. Not prepared for what Cal Poly brings every time we play them and over-coached on other aspects. I think the coaches try too hard against this team. Sometimes you have to let the players play on instinct.

I really think we missed Gatewood this game.

Right now this loss feels as bad as the Eastern game last year.

You do not see national caliber teams lose like this. If this team is not there then when will we be?

It will be a coaching miracle to get this team ready for NDSU.

I know one thing. We are the most talented FB team on the field we step onto every Saturday. But it ends there. My confidence in the coaching staff is really down right now. I feel that our coaches get the team ready to play, but I am not sure that the game plan is right.

Cal Poly made us look like crap. And I think if the coaches stay the same at both programs, they could have a longer streak on us then the grizzlies.

Congrats to the Mustangs. I hope we never see you guys again and if we do, I hope its in the NC game. Runner-up isn't bad.

i don't think anyone has mentioned this but Cal Poly play at the Gizz in Oct and host EWU on Nov 5. Those will be interesting games. I would definately pay to see both. Those games will show if we got beat by the coaches or the players. No what I mean?

I disagree with dodging Cal Poly. If we want to be the best we have to beat the best. Plain & simple. Let's get over this and focus on NDSU. Hey, at least we're underdogs now!!!! We will win.

Good point Peed. Just when I start getting a little confidence in Bailey, we have the big Cal Poly let down game. It seems like if we could have rolled out Lulay out of pocket early in the game to make CP's secondary keep an eye on him - maybe we could have opened things up up a little. They just kept bringing it at us up the middle on D, and we couldn't make them pay. I remember thinking the same thing against CP last year. We let them put us back on our heels early in the game, didn't make any substantial adjustments and things kind of snowballed on us.

It seems like we have the talent, we should be able to come up with some adjustments during the game. It was tough missing Gatewood though. I will keep the faith!

Another big game, and another ass performance.

I don't even know if I want to think about the 'Cats for the next week... maybe two... it just makes me sick to see the kind of sh*t that I saw tonight.

Hooray Beer!

That is all...

I'm sure I'll be back tomorrow...

If we consider ourselves, or aspire to be, an elite I-AA program, please no more talk about "Let's leave Cal Poly off our schedule." Kudos to Cal Poly for playing a great game. Jeers to us for laying one whopper of an egg. But it's still only one game. I really don't expect a veteran team to have this many f-ups (dropped snaps, 14 points off turnovers, losing complete track of receivers, etc., etc., etc.) in games going forward. We've played two solid games and one horribly sh*tty one. My monies on the Cats turning it around next week at home. Go Cats!

I can't believe the Cat fans who want to keep Cal Poly off their schedule. So, if you can't beat 'em, don't play 'em? Maybe you could play Rocky Mountain instead? Jeeeeez. If you claim to be a playoff-calibre team, you can't duck other IAA teams.

Don't worry, the Griz will get their *sses handed to 'em by Cal Poly too.

The Cats may get beat again next week too. I just saw where NDSU beat Weber State 41-0. This is after they beat another team by 50 on the road the previous week. They must be VERY good.

They are VERY good. They also don't make many mistakes, much like CP. Well have to break the habit of screwing OURSELVES in the big game if we want to come away with this next one.

I'll try to beat the griz trolls to the punch by saying that if we don't grow our sack back by next Saturday we'll be sitting pretty at the 'ol 1-3.

Thanks! Couldn't have said it better. We played a helluva good team and lost. Next week is a new game against a very tough opponent, but it's at our house.

We had no running game last year because (per the coaches) we could not blow anyone off the ball. Same o-Line this year same result.

1 or 2 sacks the whole year (3 games): the 3-4 is leaving us exposed in the defensive backfield because of NO pressure on the QB.

We will have to go back to throwing 60 times per game just like last year.

Lulay sounded shell shocked this week. Not like him at all. Maybe he is trying to do to much.

One more loss will make it almost impossible for a home field playoff game and will put us into a position where we HAVE to win the BSC to make them at all.

If Kramer played Cal Poly 50 times I bet he would lose 50 games. He gets out-coached really bad by them. I would vote for no more Cal-Poly. If we do play them again bring back Hysell for that one game.

It is only one loss against D-1AA but when you realize that the EWU and PSU road games look overwhelming and that OSU is not looking as good as we thought when we played them so tough, it adds a level of fear. I felt that we would finish second in BSC this year which means at least one more loss. Playoffs may be tough now.

Hopefully we can bounce back against NDSU!

It's not time to panic! We played an all around bad game. The Cal Poly coach get's into Kramer's head. They just have our number. This game can be a positive for us. It's a wake-up call to the team. I think their heads were getting a little big over the last couple of games. They know now they have to do more than just show up! I feel we will see a big turnaround aganst ND State this weekend!

OK, yesterday is ancient history. Cal Poly is simply a far better football team. Today we go forward with the goal of taking the fight to NDSU. We are the underdogs. We have nothing to lose now just our dignity and University pride and maybe our inate manhood. The U.S. Constitution could be at risk too.

No doubt NDSU is 100 times better than we are right now but I'll be damned if we lie on our backs and p!ss on ourselves like a whipped dog. No Sir!! Either we take the fight to NDSU or we quit for the season. Pick your poison.

Our offensive and defensive lines need to start producing some positive results. They are playing like Jr. High kids at this point in the season. If the O & D lines vastly improve this week and Travis bounces back full of confidence, then MSU will win.

Can we interject the "Flex Defense" using the 3-4??? Can we run more option like CPSLO?? Heck, if we can't beat them let's at least mimic some of their successes. We have some players who can do it.

Let's Go BOBCATS!! We're a damned good team capable of beating NDSU and winning the Big Sky outright. Either we choose to play like champions and win or our opponents will keep making us look terrible. GO CATS!! :D :D

I have to admit that at this time, I can't figure out if Steel is a true Bobcat fan or just another griz fan with an *interesting* sense of humor...
