Vital question about Bozeman Bars.................

Post by WYOBISONMAN » Fri Sep 16, 2005 12:14 pm

OK.....I have not been to Bozeman for years, however, when I went to school at MSU.....and yes a few of us have attended both NDSU and MSU.....the places I used to hit were.....

-- The Molly
-- The Hauf
-- The Rockin R
-- Strombolis Pizza
-- The Pickle Barrel (for good sandwiches)
-- The Cats Paw (for whore doggin')

What is the report on these places now????

-- The Molly - Probably my favorite bar for just hanging out.
-- The Hauf - Hick central. :)
-- The Rockin R - Probably the busiest bar in Bozeman, for that reason I don't like it.
-- Strombolis Pizza - Never heard of it.
-- The Pickle Barrel (for good sandwiches) - Delicious as always.
-- The Cats Paw (for whore doggin') - My choice for NFL Sundays.

I get back a few times a year.

-- The Molly - never a favorite, but best in the afternoons
-- The Hauf - you gotta' go once in a long while
-- The Rockin R - a mere shadow of what once was. it's a nice place, but an absolute disgrace for those who went to school more than 4 years ago when they gutted it.
-- Strombolis Pizza - never heard of it
-- The Pickle Barrel - still the best. man I miss the South of the Border as a hangover cure! =P~
-- The Cats Paw - haven't been there in a long while.

Strombolis is now a sports bar. Still has pretty good pizza.

I wish a bar in bozeman would get something bigger than an 18" dish. I haven't seen one yet. Everytime I go in to one all they get is what is on at home.

Anyone have any good news?

Strombolis is now Spectaters.

Hasn't changed much.

Anything going on in the basement of that building?

It was a couple of things when I was there. The Zoo, The Phoenix, and something else.

I know.......I'm old

Strombolis is now Spectators. They have numerous tv's and show all the games in progress that are televised. Food is pretty good as well. Waitresses are generally above average from the male perspective. Joe supports the Cats heartily!

That is too bad about the Rockin R.......I will still have to stop and have a few there, however. I am trying to get a few of the NDSU faithful to hit the Rockin R on Fri. night before the game. My biggest problem is I won't be getting out of Jackson, WY until about 3pm of Friday........so I need to drive fast!!

Good call...The R-Bar used to be the best ever. For those who remember quarter beer night and dried up vomit all over the sweet carpet, here's to you! 8) 8) 8) 8) Many a great pee in the most disgusting bathroom of all time! New R- Bar is mediocre at best- Unfortunately, it is still where all my friends like to go, so I am still sometwhat of a regular.

To all those who fondly rememberg the old R-bar:

There is still good ol' fashioned Montana beer and whiskey drinin' that takes place nightly, right down the street....The Crystal. I've always liked the Crystal better anyway, especially after I met Ralph Ferraro, owner of the R-bar. What a complete jackass!

I like to stop back in to the Crystal for the best jukebox, cheapest beer, largest native Montanan clientelle, and the outside possibility of seeing one of MSU's finest co-eds take advantage every young woman's God-given right to fire a bullet for Feminism by "walking the bar".

When ever I was in Bozeman I always liked the Crystal and Stacey's.

While we are reminiscing about how the bars use to be in/around Bozeman. I can remember going to Stacey's/Old Faithful Bar in Gallatin Gateway when Stacey was still around. He'd sit at the bar chain smoking Lucky Strikes and pounding Schlitz beer (when you're out of Schlitz; you're out of beer!!). During the winter months he would occasionally lean back and yell, " Hey, one of you college boys throw another log on that fire!!" Then he go back to his Lucky Stikes & Schlitz beer. God Bless him!! Oh, about the only hats you saw in that joint were Stetsons, R Bar King Ropes, Stihl and Husqvarna. Yep, it was a real cowboy & logger hangout in those days. YEEEHHAAAA.

Funny how someone mentioned that the Haufbrau is a hick bar now. That use to be the hippie & granola hangout. The times they are a changin'

GO CATS!!

I grew up at the Crystal, especially since my Father's store used to be right next door. Prob the best bar left in Bozeman as far as just drinking some cold beers. R bar, bless it's heart, after the renovation, it looks like it belongs in California.

Anybody remember $5 all you can drink pitchers at the Cat's Paw on Thursday nights? Maybe I'm getting old.

OHHHH do I ever remeber the $5 all you can drink nights at the Cats Paw, also I've never heard the Hauf called a Hick bar but haven't been in there in about 2 years. Crystal was the best bar in town hands down, but I don't like it as much now. Mainly because Cash and or Kyle don't work there anymore. It's still packed but the jokers bartending now are a far cry form the good ol days. I can't remember the last time I saw a gal "walk the bar"

I've turned into kind of an Eagles man now but mainly because I don't like big crowds as much as I used to. Specs and The Poor House are top notch and no one I'd rather give my patronage to than Joe.

The devil made me do it the first time... the second time I done it on my own.
