WOW! I am jealous of those students that will get to enjoy a new COB building in the future! What a great thing for MSU.

Wow is right! Question, the article claims a ground breaking date for a new building could happen in the spring of 2018. Is that how long these projects take to get moving these days?

I was told that some great news was on the way -- this surely must have been it. Awesome!!!
The donor's biography is also a very inspiring story. I love to read about people who were willing to take risks, had it pay off for them, and then choose to use the fruits of their labor to benefit others. To me, that's the mark of a great person.

So something I am crunching on...WHERE will the new building be? Anyway they eventually tear down an old building on campus and replace it or will campus just keep expanding? I would love to see the building stay close to the core of campus, but don't really know where it will go.

Can you imagine what kind of expansion we could have had next year if that money would have gone to the stadium!?!?
But really, great donation and great thing to happen for the COB and MSU

Re: 25 Million Dollar Donation to MSU
The article I read said it would break ground in the spring of 2013 if approved. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be. That would be some disappointing politics if they couldn't get that approved. Here's the article from MSU: http://www.montana.edu/cpa/news/nwview. ... n=homepageRich K wrote:Wow is right! As for the location, I was wondering the same thing. As somebody else mentioned, I hope it's near the core of the campus too. If the campus is sprawled out, I would think there's less of a united, familiar feel that is so great about college. But this is what happens when a University does great things and expands because of it. Thank you Mr. Jabs, and congratulations MSU!

Re: 25 Million Dollar Donation to MSU
I wonder what that would be. Traphagen is right between the two buildings, and I don't think they would tear that down...it's a cool old building a lot of students never have classes in. Below Traphagen (just to the west) is a little open space, but it's pretty close to the duck pond. That's not going anywhere. Does anything happen on Gatton Field anymore? That's the space just to the east of the P.E. complex. And I think there's some space south of Langford. I just can't imagine a space in the heart of campus that could hold a decent-sized building.RK Cat wrote:I remember talking with the college of business about a new building and and I remember them saying there is a space right behind reid next to Gaines

WOW! Thank you Mr. Jabs!
I can still remember the old Great American Bazaar precursor business that he had in Billings years ago. The old commercials are something I'll remember forever.

Currently the only thing that goes on at Gatton field is Marching band rehearsal.kennethnoisewater wrote:I wonder what that would be. In his interviews Jake Jabs said he wanted to build something similar to NAU's College of Business -which was also a product of a $25 million gift.

I am having a moment of deja vu. Didn't a furniture tycoon give a huge donation to the business school a couple years ago as well?
