cash for tailgate party

Post by CLUB 126 » Wed Sep 14, 2005 3:42 pm

AT the SFA game last week one of the MSU police came up to me and said that the table I had right next to my pickup,( the table is 20 inchesx30 inches) would have to be directly behind my truck (were everybody walks) or I would have to pay an additional 10 bucks!

Is that really what MSU wants to start doing in light of the fact that the tailgating is really starting to take off? :?:

MY truck and table side by side take up less room than any of tha trailers parked there?

the corner of the tailgatting area was far from completly full, even by the 4th qtr

I would not have to big of problem with this if there was never unuff room, but right now that just is not the case!

I saw them go over to the guys that painted there trailer like a MSU helmet and try to charge them an additional 20 bucks because they had their truck next to the trailer with space in the middle for their goodies

just wondering what everbody thought of this, and what you all think should be the rule? :?:

I think that the rule should be that each vehicle gets a spot and a spot next to it to set up the days goodies sense everyone walks down the middle to go places.

What say you?

I feel that if they are going to make "rules" "as they go" it's going to turn into nothing but a pi$$ing match. If they would offer the whole premium lot to tailgaters on a booster heirarchy basis like the seating, at a price per area per year and make the areas big enough for say a motor home and picnic area (like they do at McNeese) they would have no problems, but walking around and making judgements on a case by case basis is anarchy.

To anyone reading this with the power to change/affect tailgating rules, may I suggest the following:

DO NOT institute any new rules until/unless they've been CLEARLY broadcast to the public. I would recommend that if you HAVE some new rules, you print them on flyers and hand them out to folks as they enter the parking lots. BUT DO NOT institute them for a few games afterward (or maybe even wait until next season) so that folks can absorb & adjust.

To NOT specify new rules/regs but send out the Gestapo to try & bully people into paying extra is pure & simple BS. I wandered all over the east parking lot, looking for kmax and his band of merry men and there was TONS of room for more vehicles and tailgate parties! Don't ruin a good thing BEFORE it really takes off. The last thing we want to do right now is rain on anybodies parade; we are on the cusp of creating a GREAT gameday atmosphere; reasonable people on BOTH sides of this issue, acting in a reasonable fashion, will develop a reasonable solution.

Bottom line: There was NOTHING wrong with the parking/tailgating last weekend, at least in the east lot. DON'T TRY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT AIN'T BROKE!!!
