State Championships
I would love to see the state chippers at a neutral site, at least A & AA. Bobcat stadium would be perfect being cetrally located and a college stadium. Have to be a Friday night game when cat/griz is there. Maybe a rotation between stadiums. What do you all think?

the teams who have the opportunity to host state championships would probably disagree with youbasincat wrote:I would love to see the state chippers at a neutral site, at least A & AA. I think it would be sweet! Pretty much every state around us has this type of format and the attendance is great. I have gone to WA's in Tacoma Dome recruiting for a small college I coached for and the atmosphere was great, plus you can do alot of recruiting and get a real good football fix with games all day long.

Plus...the high school players may enjoy playing in Bobcat Stadium so much that they sign up to do it for another 4 years!

Re: State Championships
I think it would be really cool if they alternated between Bozeman and Missoula and in the same town as Cat/Griz on Friday night beforehand.
As a fan that would be awesome, however, I'm not sure how it would work logistically unless the Cat/Griz kickoff is moved back to later in the evening, rather than the traditional high noon.

I got to play one of my HS games in the Tacoma Dome when they had the astroturf (don't know if they still have it or not), while it was cool to play there, that astroturf was sure unforgiving!catpound wrote:I think it would be sweet! Re: State Championships
I like the idea -- many other states do this
The 3A 4A and 5A Utah state championships are usually at Rice-Eccles (U of U) or BYU, either Friday night or Saturday daytime games
I see Euless Trinity in Texas had playoffs at the Alamodome, Texas Stadium and Cowboys Stadium with up to 55,000 in attendance. DM & Tray won a 5A division 1 championship at the Alamodome (just trying to help this thread relate to Bobcat Football!!!)

Re: State Championships
I like the way it is, it is a reward to be the higher seed through a better season to host the chipper. A much better atmosphere than at high school field overflowing with spectators than msu or um stadiums half full maybe.

Re: State Championships
The "higher"seed doesn't necessarily host the state championship. The Semi-finals and Championship games are pre-determined before the season even starts. The Highwayman wrote:I like the way it is, it is a reward to be the higher seed through a better season to host the chipper. Re: State Championships
No, the only way game would be switched is if 2 teams from same conference happened to meet in state championship, then it would be at conference champs home. At least that is how Class A is set up anyway.wbtfg wrote:catpound wrote:

Re: State Championships
This is from last years AA bracket
Teams will be reseeded after the first round, highest seed playing lowest seed. In the second round, the highest seed remaining will host the lowest
seed remaining for one semi-final and the next highest seed remaining will host the next lowest seed remaining in the other semifinal.
The sites for the Class AA football playoffs and state championship games will be determined as follows:
A. The higher seeded team will host. Highest seeded team will host lowest seeded team.
B. Single elimination.
C. First playoff games will be week eleven of the season, the second round games will be week twelve, and the championship game will be
week thirteen.
D. Teams will be reseeded after the first round, highest seed playing lowest seed. In the second round, the highest seed remaining will host
the lowest seed remaining for one semi-final and the next highest seed remaining will host the next lowest seed remaining in the other
semifinal.
E. Date and time of each game will be determined by mutual consent of teams involved (games to be scheduled on Fridays or Saturdays of
respective weeks).

Re: State Championships
Actually it depends on level whether or not the home team is predetermined or not. In six man the higher seed will host and if like seeds play they have a rotation based on division (south, west, north, east) where the one listed prior would host. Class A and C have the semi and chipper predetermined and in Class B all rounds are predetermined, with the first based on seed. AA is based on seed.

You can go to the MHSA website and they already have the brackets available.

the brackets are up but they don't assign a home stadium.........if you're the highest seed you host

Re: State Championships
having the state championships at a single location has been very well received for wrestling, last year they were split up due to the Metra being damaged and it a huge disappointment for wrestling fans.

Re: State Championships
one of the reasons why wrestling and volleyball were concentrated was poor attendance for single class preassigned tourneys but they were never based on the #1 seed's home court....as far as i knowcats2506 wrote:having the state championships at a single location has been very well received for wrestling, last year they were split up due to the Metra being damaged and it a huge disappointment for wrestling fans.

Re: State Championships
In my post I was narrowminded and was thinking of AA. I've been to several AA chippers in a few different towns and it was more electric in the stands then in my opinion then any cat or griz game, except last year's cat/griz game was awesome electricity wise including the ground blizzards.
