Gameday Atmosphere/Students

I've been to nearly every home game for the last 3 years, and I have to say I was extremely impressed with how energetic this crowd was today, especially the students. We were yelling on every third down, and forced a few timeouts and delay of games.

In previous years, I've always felt somewhat out of place with my crazy cheering, but this year I fight right in! It's like my entire section was Kramers Krazies. Whenever the players raised their arms, we responded. I don't know how loud it was outside my section, but it sounded like we were really into the game. I was impressed.

I wasn't able to hear anything from the booster side during the game except when Figs got his helmet ripped off. During the game though, like kickoffs, we need to be as one in the stadium. Get everyone off their seats and with their hand up in the air yelling at the top of their lungs so the returner thinks the kicker's leg is a cannon firing the last thing he will ever see. As a whole though, the only games where more yelling was involved were EWU last year and UM the year before. Great job guys.

Actually from sitting on the booster side there was more noise than I can ever remember. Still not as much standing and noise as the student side, but overall I thought it was pretty good.

Lets hope the spirit continues...I think the players keyed off the energy at times and really looks forward to hearing the crowd roar after a good play...and we definately have some play makers....it is still frustrating to see the booster section offended when I get up to yell on third downs....oh well...they can stand up as well or miss the play if they are behind me.

I hate sitting with my parents on the booster side when they come to town. I feel like cheering is a sin.

Huh, maybe I am just in a good part of that side. That or the fact I am in the front row and reall don't care what people behind me think.

I'm on the student side and heard some folks in front of me yelling at the kids to sit down so they could see

Could the booster side be better/louder? Sure! But, there are those of us over there yelling hard; just ask my wife!

KMAX, where do you sit? We're in section 103, row 1, seats 11-13 (I think). Come on down the next game. Me and a couple of guys like to get after it.

Barechest, I am just one section over from you. Section 102 row 1 seats 18-22.

Not only was the yelling loud, but the music was better, the anouncing was better, the big screen was better. It was nice to see cheer leaders again, however thay need to make a few trips over to the Alum side.

Hats off to Peter Fields and Company for improving the game day expeience. Lets keep it up.

They were over in front of sections 101-102 in the first quarter. They can't really go further in than that as that is the visiting team sideline area. I will agree though it was nice having them back.

I really liked the banners they put up in the concourses. They looked great, and made a movement in the right direction towards giving our team and school more of a "big-time" feel when you walked into the stadium.

I forgot about those, but I totally agree Bozone. Those player banners wrapping the concrete supports were awesome!

They have also had new banners all over campus with the new logo and what not, it definately adds to the campus atmosphere. But I thought the banners in the stadium were awesome!

As much as I hate standing in line to get into the stadium, I sure liked that fact that every entrance into the stadium had a line that was about 35-50 people deep before the game. There were some small spots on end of student side, but other than that .. the stands were pretty filled at the beginning of the game. VERY GOOD for an OPENER and with the way the weather was that day.

All I can say is I got stuck babysitting out in the student tailgate and would get into the stadium for about 2 minutes at a time during each quarter and each time I went in I was blasted by both sides of the stadium with Kraziness....AWESOME TO SEE!!!

Another sign on how well attended and supported this game was: the Shriners ran out of programs before the game started. One of them told me it the craziest pre-game he had witnessed. The Shrine fellas had to scramble to go get some more. But, I never did get one (I always get one and refer to it constantly during the game).

Let's enjoy every second of this season. It is going to be a special time in 'Cat history!

Speaking of banners/signs, I like the banners flying on the corners of the stands BUT THEY'RE TOO SMALL.

Those things need to be about 5X bigger; given the size of the structure they're flying over, they were almost invisible.

But, overall, I love what I'm seeing. Slowly but surely, we're getting there!

Yeah, I kept peeking over the side of the stadium to watch my little man and all the other kids. When I look at our stadium, I hope we somehow manage to keep the grassy ends (similar to Paulson Stadium in Statesboro) so the kids (including the drunk college kids

) can have a place to play during the games. Loved the atmosphere starting about 9:00--but the bookstore didn't open until 10:00 on gameday?

I was still pissed off by the rent-a-cops on power trips. That aspect of the games hasn't changed a single bit. I swear, if I can get through the season without cold-cocking that one jerk (fat, blond hair, scraggly pathetic goatee), it will be a miracle.

Hey idiots, stay down front and out of everyone's way unless someone is actually causing a real problem (i.e., not just innocently sipping on a harmless beer). Otherwise, make yourselves scarce.
