I agree, football is played one Saturday at a time and this Saturday is not Cal Poly! Steve F Austin is next. Time for Kramer to tweek the defense and continue to work on the running game.

As Bobcat fans nation wide we were very proud of the way the Cats played at OSU. I am now anxious to see them live at Bobcat Stadium. Lets build on the momentum of last weekend and put it to work this Saturday afternoon.

Agreed, SFA is on the CATS menu. It is time to Devour them on our home field. One game at a time. MSU is still 0-1 and must play every team like they played OSU as every team playing MSU will give it there all as well. GO CATS! I am looking forward to a rowdy crowd this weekend and hopefully some refs that know when the play clock winds down to zero and know what to do

I agree with the "One game at a time" philosophy and what makes me feel VERY good about this season & this team is that is PRECISELY the mentality of our Captains, Lulay & Mollohan. With these 2 guys leading the way, I'm VERY confident that the team will be focused on the NEXT opponent every week, whether it's SFA, Weber, or the Griz.

BTW, interesting note regarding running the football & time of possession: MSU had the ball more last Satuday than did OSU, despite our less-than-mediocre performance on the ground...

I still think about Humbolt State, Central Washington and Northern Colorado. We lost to all three and two of those Bobcat teams won the BSC.

I agree, and I too am trying to curb my excitement. I was blown away by how good this team sounded against the Cowboys, and it's about the same way I felt when we went to Flagstaff last year where we hadn't won since Ford was president - and completely destroyed them. Then the next week...

Not trying to rain on everyone's parade here but how we perform this Sat. is VERY important IMO. (I do have a good feeling that we'll see good things, but I really want to see it happen on Sat.

It is the final night of stock car racing at the Belgrade Raceway. It is the Big Sky nationals, all the cars from the state of Montana and wyoming and probably Idaho and parts of south Dakota will be there. Should be fun.

We have the same coaches, some of the same players. You still cannot compare this team with any of the previous.

This is not your typical Bobcat FB team....period. Everyone has learned from the past. These kids and coaches have not forgotten what happen only ten months ago. We are focused. You will see it on every play this year. All you have to do is look at our leaders (Lulay, Mollahan, Bolton). They were apart of all that has happen to this team the past 4 years. The could of's, the should of's, and most of all the over-confidence of coming off a good performance. There will be know letdowns this year. They are well aware of the schedule. These leaders have been to the playoffs. They won't more. Just going to the playoffs for these guys is almost a step backward. My expectations are high because I know their's are.

I think you are all correct on a few levels. It's hard as a fan to not be excited about the possibilities of a season after last Saturday's performance. But, like the Cats did today, we need to put OSU behind us and start concentrating our conversation on what SFA does and how we match up.
It looked like to me after taking a peek at their first game stats that they were not quite 50/50 on pass and run; but close. They have a senior QB who has three years varsity experience. I don't think he is terribly mobile. But, his backup had some large runs in the game (15 yd avg). Their fullback is a bruiser. Several WR's had catches, but #88 had nine.

Kramer said they like to play man coverage in their secondary. So, they may have some luck stopping the run. It does open up plays such as middle screens.

This is just a start. But I thought we'd better get to work.

Yes, but Papich, Lou, and Kolone will tie them up; think those "monsters" will be able to track down Mac, Marudas, King, & Lowe?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I give our first outing in the 3-4 a solid A. One of our 4 LB's was called on nearly every play and if you take away the rushing of their QB's (which we won't see much of in the Big Sky), we did a damn fine job vs the run.

I would love to see something along the lines of 30+ for us and 14 or less for SFA. I think we CAN have a game like that & it would be great to see this team put together a complete game early in the season.

EL one thing that you missed is that the big sky qbs will be able to pass more effectively then what we have seen at okie light

I was mainly worried about our ability to stop the run in the 3-4. I think our secondary (if healthy) will be LIGHT YEARS ahead of last November.

Fuller, Force, and Hunter were HUGE in Stillwater; 'nuff said.

stopping the run with a qb that can run is different then stopping the run with - say - a statue under center

if you have that statue under center you can blitz anyway you want and not have to be worried about knowing where the qb is

if the qb is mobile the broken play all of a sudden becomes a gain for the qb because he can evade the D effectively. *see vick, michael or Lulay, Travis*

all i am saying is that we need not worry about the running back getting any good runs against us - id worry about the qb on a broken play

SFA is built to run on anybody, and I would be surprised to keep them under 200 yds rushing. Rushing is rushing, and if the QB is taking 15-yard chunks, it is just as effective as giving the ball to the TB.

SFA now has a full-speed game film to look at the 3-4. Their coaches will have their O-line ready. I still liked what I heard, though, and quite a bit surprised.

The Cat offense will have to be more successful, especially running the ball. And they have to get a score when they get inside the 30 of the opponent.

It seemed to me that OK ST. had the strategy to let give us little chunks of yardage until we got to their 30, and then the full Defensive play book opened up. The Cats had a very hard time with blitzing and line stunts. Lulay got the ball away a lot of the times, but really before he was ready.
